According to Sky who will show the September 6 card on Box Officeatsch. Boxrec have Prescott on the 18th of September though. Prescott has fought a bunch of nobodies in Colombia and only 4 of his 19 opponents have winning records. On the plus side he has stopped 17 of his opponents and has a massive 89.47% KO ratio:hey. His last fight was in America where he won a split decision victory over an opponent with a 10-0-1 record. http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=boxer&human_id=321864 Who in their right mind will pay 15 quid to watch this card? EDIT: A plus for Prescott- according to the BBC he holds a height and reach advantage over Khan. Decent opponent for Khan, a guy who can punch and is bigger than him. Still not PPV worthy though.
Khan's fighting nowhere near world class and Arthur-Cook, although for the WBO title, is no more than a domestic dust-up. This is Friday Fight Night standard, not PPV. We're already paying about 40 quid a month for Sky - which should be more than enough, especially when Setanta are delivering the best world-class fights for 12 quid a month. Mayweather was a multi-weight world champ and top pound-for-pounder before he appeared on PPV in the US. Amir hasn't even fought the best of British yet. He should be fighting Manny Pac in Vegas to be PPV worthy. I can't believe this is PPV!
We shouldn't be looking at this too negatively, at least he's a puncher. What do you want them to do, throw him in with a class fighter AND puncher given the defence/chin issues? Let's deal with an unproven one first. Not worth a PPV though of course, but you don't have to buy it.
I certainly won't be buying this bulls***. What a joke fight, and a joke decision to put it on box office.
and i won't. i'm someone who usually always buys the ppv's as well. i even bought tyson-neilson and tyson-etienne.
I don't understand why people are so negative about this. I would have been pissed off if he fought another blown up FW but at least he's fighting someone that can bang and is bigger than him. I hardly ever post on the forum but I see a lot of negativity from some posters. I think this is a step in the right direction, better than fighting another Gomez.
frank must be building an extension on his house or something. good news (maybe) about the opponent though.
The opponent doesnt look that bad on paper .... and although boxrec doesnt always have the best rankings, they have him at 127 !! A, Khan should be fighting somebody much better at this stage of his career. B. PPV !! .... What a ****ing joke.
Who the **** is Breidis Prescott???? Probably better off fighting John Prescott! On paper the guy looks good, but have a GOOD look, half of the fighters he's beaten have NEVER won a single fight, so it's pretty easy K.O. guys who cant feckin fight to save themselves. A PPV! :nut Who the **** do Sky think Khan is, Oscar Delayhoya, feck me what a joke. Warren is SUCH a tosser. Hope this guys catches Khan and ends this circus.. GO ON PRESCOTT
Well hes a natural lighweight, 5ft11, he has KO power and at 25 he's young and hungry. Given the fact Khan has a new trainer and his obvious defensive flaws, I think its a good match up. Hes ranked by 14 by the WBA.
At least now we get to finally see how many stupid boxing fans there are in Britain. Who ever buys this needs arresting.
People reckon that this guy is a 'power puncher' on the basis that he beat up on nine Columbian dustmen who didn't have a win in a professional fight between them?
LOL How do you know he can bang? How do you know he is bigger then Khan? Are you in the know? At least Gomez had pedigree, decent technique and a proven punch, this guy is nothing more then a pair of arms and legs attached to an unknown face with a manufactured record.
