True win try and win that belt and then defend it against no hopers for years on end. Well that will be Franks plan anyway, I think Khan is far more ambitious than that and will not go along with that game plan for very long.
Why does Warren always match Khan with fighers who have incredibly low KO %'s per win? I would really like a Khan expert to answer this question, as I am finding trouble coming to an answer in this one.:huh It cannot be because Warren has seen alot of Khans sparring, and his fights and seen that he has a bad chin surely?:huh
Of course there's disappointment. I think everyone wanted to see a Thaxton fight happen. On the other hand I don't know anything about Kristjansen, so I wouldn't brush him off just yet, but the excitement for the fight will definitely not be like it would for Thaxton or Romanov. I think the contract ends mid-2008. I'm not a Khan expert, or an expert in anything for that matter, but I'd say he has doubts on Khan's chin, or is just being his cautious/protective self. In any case, sooner or later Khan will have to get credible opponents if he hopes to make himself a name at the top level.
Its not as bad as you guys are making out. This kid, while being no superstar, is a decent fighter, seen him on Eurosport before, he's a tricky little fella. Still, its not the Romanov we where expecting, but come on, its In February, by the summer he'll get the Romanov or Thaxton fight i'm sure of it. Khan will grow restless with FW by the end of 2008 though guaranteed and hop over to GoldenBoy, put money on that.
He will when he finds himself being riduculed by the people who matter concerning countless defences against nobodies for the WBO strap. Khan is not as stupid as you people think, he'll get restless, and GoldenBoy will snap him up, guaranteed. ODLH will not miss out on this cash cow and try to insert some internal rumblings within the camp.
i'm not sure about that. i think khan will just be happy to be called a world champion. if he takes the maccarinelli route, this fight against the dane may well lead to a fight for an interim wbo belt whilst juan diaz decides whether or not to move up to the lightwelterweight division. after that, warren will display his expertise at getting his wbo champ opponents who only look decent on paper, whilst making it look like the elite of the division are ducking him. i will be pleasantly suprised if khan does have the balls to leave warren btw, do you think calzaghe ever got restless with warren? do you think macca ever will?
Calm down guys.. Khan only had 15 fights and he is only 21. He is progressing very well.. You guys seem want Khan to be rushed.. Relax!! Martin Kristjansen is ranked number 2 in WBO. Good opponent at this stage.
Oh I hope so. I wasn't at all pleased when I learned he'd signed with Warren, and predicted a Hatton style fall out somewhere along the line due to a conflict of 'ambitions'
It is not that I want him rushed but that he is fighting another guy who cannot punch. He needs to have a healthy fear of an opponent to ensure he continues to show the improvements he has been making since the Limmond fight, ie holding a guard and picking his shots more carefully without coming in wide and open. Fights like this he knows he can walk through the guy so he could end up getting into bad habits. Who the WBO rank means **** all. They also ranked Tocker Pudwill for Calzaghe to fight a few years back.
...and amir khan is now ranked number 4 by the WBO, which is why warren is trying to get the wbo to agree to this fight becoming an official eliminator for the full title.
First we hear he's fighting Katsidis, then Romanov, and now this guy. Give it a few weeks and he be lined up for a rematch with Earl. This guy has the right credentials (fair boxer, light hitter), but I wouldn't get your hopes up, the fights still too far away.
Apparently warren is trying to make this fight for the no1 contenders spot to face baby bull or Katdits.
