Exactly, Ive seen him do the philly shell in sparring not only that but he tries to use the shoulder roll now aswell he used it in the Maidana fight, Its strange because the philly shell/should roll is not something Roach stable of fighters use.
If that's the case he'll be more open to the right hand than ever before :deal You can't just learn it between fights Khan wants to find an effective style based on landing his eye catching flurries and gettin the **** outta there!!!
I'll laugh if he uses a philly shell. Can't see it. Remember Oscar trying that randomly...it was a mess.
Philly shell is great for blocking uppercuts. However overall it'd be disastrous on Khan, he hasn't got the tools to make it work. It's one of those things where either you have to master it to make it work or you look completely silly and end up getting hit even more. I haven't seen many employ a philly shell effectively who didn't have it from the get-go.
^^^ agreed to stiff for my liking to make it pay. He loses the effect of his jab which is main weapon. It doesn't make sense to fight this way and lose your footwork and speedy combinations to stand and roll and counter with 1-3 punches max.
Agreed, Mand. You also have to know your way on the inside, which Khan doesn't. It'd be better for him to work on his feet and stop with so much of the unnecessary wasting of energy by going round in big circles. He needs to learn how to pivot properly and to go round in tight circles.
