    KHAN TURNED DOWN PACQUIAO CLASH

Amir Khan reportedly turned down an autumn showdown with P4P king Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao will face Miguel Cotto in a mouthwatering match in Las Vegas on November 14.
But before that deal was signed, Top Rank supremo Bob Arum revealed that British star Khan had been offered the chance to take on the Pacman.
He told the Daily Telegraph: "Before we had signed with Cotto Amir's name was on the table, we offered him the fight, but his father, and his family felt it was too early in his career.
"Amir Khan has all the attributes of a great champion, and I think he's going to be a superstar in the sport. Okay, so he had a loss in his career, he made a mistake, but he looks great now. I can definitely see Amir and Manny meeting in the ring down the line."
Khan has reportedly impressed many observers in sparring with Pacquiao at Freddie Roach's Wild Card gym.
But instead of facing the Filipino superstar next, it looks likely that he will make the first defence of his WBA light-welterweight title against Dmitry Salita in London in December.
Pacquiao meanwhile, fresh off crushing wins over ring icons Oscar De La Hoya and Britain's Ricky Hatton, is hoping to stay on track for a massive showdown with comebacking Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayeather Jr faces Juan Manuel Marquez in Vegas on September 19 in his first fight since December 2007. :smoke

Smart thing. He's not ready. Honestly, with his chin, don't think he'll ever be.

    Good move by team khan......

IMO the future of khan's carear looks like this....

1.) Win a World Title- Done
2.) Beat World Class Opponents who have very little power, add to the resume...
3.) Build a Fan Base Legacy in the UK
4.) Major fight at 140, win or lose, maybe lineal title
5.) Tune-up match at 147, remember khan is big for both 140 and 147....then have one big cash out at 147, and that's probably it for amir....

Similar to the hatton story, but will be under ricky's shadow...

Smart move. He's not ready. It's in Khan's best interest to stick with Roach and continue his development since he's still got plenty of upside left; Manny would've torn him to shreds.

Pacquiao doesn't meet the requirements Khan and co. seek, he's not coming off a brutal career ending loss. Maybe if Pac loses his next 3 fights by early KO MAYBE it will be considered.

I hope as **** even if Pac loses anytime soon NOT to fight and lose to this guy, watching that I THINK would make me quit watching boxing forever. The Barrera one was disgusting enough, please no Pacman, Mayweather or Marquez coming off losses to fight this guy for "confidence".

remember how roach said that they want a morales fight as well for khan:yikes, let alone a hatton fight......I wonder why warren and team khan is not jumping on the chance to get a malignaggi fight, the guy is credible name at 140, who is featherfisted?

Amir Khan? WTF has he done to earn a shot against the p4p king? What would Pac gain from beating Khan? Absolutely nothing. This has to be some horrible joke.

Smart move. There's no point in alienating Freddie Roach by schooling Pacquiao.

Seriously though, this is a smart move for Khan, although not a particularly exceptional one. After all, you don't have to be very smart to know not to run into a bus, let alone run into Pac-Man.
