Ever the pessimist, Rob. I agree it's **** considering JMM's alternatives, but as the fight is actually happening and will be going ahead, I will be watching. I don't expect it to be anything like the first fight, but it might have it's moments. Diaz doesn't deserve this fight, though- especially considering it's being hyped to present the winner of this fight as a major force who'll be stepping up to 140. JMM should win this fight and stay at 135. There are much better fights in that division for him, but I wouldn't begrudge him a fight at 140 if he is considering retiring after he has a short stab in one last division.
defo and wud rather see groves as chief support to khan over here if we aint gona see him in america:good
Pirog-Jacobs is official!!! http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=5261253 Middleweight division is shaping up nicely. Hassan N'Dam-Golovkin is on, Pirog-Jacobs is on. Imagine if the winners face each other
now im torn between going khan card as i like the o2 and staying home and getting the ppv double header if that is happening
Can`t see Macklin v Barker for a European title. Didnt Macklin just relinquish it in Barkers favour? Anyway I hear Macklin sees his future fighting "names" in the States. I hear there is a meeting next week on whether the Khan bout is a goer at the O2. They will not even put feelers out re the undercard until after that is finalised. I`d love to see McEwan v Barker though! 4 Scottish teams are playing friendlies in London that day, I hear!
I'd love to see Macklin-Barker but like many of you have already said I can't see it happening. Regardless the Vegas card looks great so far even if I don't really like the main event. JMM has already sparked Diaz, I don't see why there should be a rematch even if the first fight was close on the cards, and there are plenty of other more deserving opponents. Really looking forward to Pirog-Jacobs. The Middleweight division finally seems to be shaping up!!!
Apart from Boxrec, is there any evidence that Groves is pencilled in on the LA card that night? It seems a strange inclusion.
He was supposed to be fighting on the Mayweather card but had an injury, so it makes sense that he's on this card now.
I've heard Goldenboy talking of a split site PPV event. But whether it happens is another thing entirely. Firstly there is the issue of time.. As it stands the current HBO PPV event would be on Sky Sports 1 at 4-5am. Because there is such a huge time gap between the events, assuming Khan fights at 10pm-11pm at the latest, it means it would not be possible to bundle it into a single PPV in the UK, this means the Marquez Diaz fight will continue to be on skys non ppv channels, and the Khan fight itself and its undercard would have to become the PPV package... Which comes to the next problem.. Team Khan + Goldenboy would have to negotiate with Sky to work out a deal, which in itself has low chances of succeeding if the opponent is Casamayor, because as per usual, Team Khan will approach with a ridiculous offer of what they are prepared to accept and like with the Malignaggi fight it will get rejected
The above has now been shown to be correct. Golden boy have today confirmed the Jul 31st fight for Khan has been pulled due to poor response from the Media companies such as BSKYB. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/more_sport/boxing/article7147781.ece
Pirog vs Jacobs is an absolutely fantastic fight. I mean, never saw it coming and an awesome style clash of highly touted undefeated fighters. Linares vs Juarez is very interesting. I don't rate Linares at all, I think Juarez will probably take him out late doors. Juan Diaz II is the perfect fight for us to judge where JMM is. He also deserves a 'breaking in' fight IMO. B-Hop had one before Jones after a lengthy period off, JMM is getting on and it's his first fight since a stiupid jump North, and we will see exactly what he\s got left without it being too hard for him, because I'd rather see a fresh JMM take on a more serious fight next having shaken off the ring rust, than an even more battleworn Marquez being used as a stepping stone. Shame the Khans fight off or there was a chance that coulda got televised IMO. That card is worth dough, one interesting fight, one extremely intriguing fight, and a chance to see two Elite fighters (well one who was and won he is getting on abit) battle it out in what will be an entertaining, if not as dramatic fight.
