I don't even disagree with that really. I think Gamboa is more gifted, I am just saying that in a head to head it is not madness to say Khan could win. It is not what I think would happen, but it is open to debate. Khan is basically a boiled down Welter. Gamboa is a Super Feather. There is a big difference in size, reach and to me Khan has tightened his defence. It is not great, but he holds the guard up now, is more patient and has slightly improved his short shots. Gamboa looks supreme going forwards but he needs to stop just catching shots with his face and look to sit down on a 5 punch combo rather than throwing an 8 or 9 punch flurry that does not do the damage he is capable of because it is thrown in a point scoring amateur mindset rather than a pro one.
how can you say that, gamboa is as overhyped as khan if not more IMO, i would take kahn by late tko in this one, close fight but khan is bigger and has better defence IMO gamboa is likely to get hit by one or two hard shots, not sure if he could deal with it
I was thinking the exact same thing. Khan is no where near the class of Gamboa (I doubt he ever will be either and thats just Gamboa as it stands never mind when he has a few more pro bouts under his belt)
Never seen Gamboa mentioned in any newspaper or competing on celebrity superstars. Only one man who has been hyped and got max PR and that is chinny chin Khan.
gamboa only turned pro last year, he's been labeled as the next P4P kingpin according to some, and if u turn over to the general Boxing forum some people see him as a boxing god and finally in his last fight the HBO team was blowing so much sunshine up his ass it made duke mckenze and mcguigans commentary look good,if thats not over hyped that what is?
A few kids chatting on a forum is not exactly Khan type hype is it. I would take little notice of boxing commentators they will try and sell you anything.
If we ignore people who talk about boxing on forums and we ignore boxing commentators, then where does hype actually come from?
Thats true! Most of Khans 'ko's' have come through him buddling his opponents to the floor due to his speed.
I don't think Khan uses his reach advantage effectively for the whole 12 rounds, Gamboa is too skilled, too fast and too power and gets to Khan eventually and KO's him in the mid-to-late rounds.
Thats true he had me convinced he'd beat Haye. Speaking of hype and Haye, Richard Schauffer of Golden Boy has compared Haye to Muhammad Ali:-( Haye is good but the nuthuggery is even extending to the promoters, etc.
