Khan v Maidana Sky Sports or Box Office???

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by starmatthew1234, Nov 15, 2010.

  1. I caught the end of Dave Clark saying something about Sky confirming that their showing Khan's next fight. I presume it will be on the big box office bill along with the Frank Warren show and Wlad v Chisora.

However I heard rumours that Warren doesn't want Khan getting any of the PPV money because of their falling out (basically Khan left Warren and signed with Golden Boy) Could this mean Khan is shown on normal Sky Sports and that the revenue for this fight could be made through advertisements???

I'd say it would be completely ******ed If Frank does that. Khan will bring the overall buys up a huge amount. Chissy vs Wald isn't a big seller to the public it will get attention but will it get him big buys I doubt it. Smith Vs Degale is the only undercard fight worthy of being on PPV on there as well which will get some interest. Khan will drag in a lot of casuals especially if the fight is marketed right by Sky (which I'm sure they will do) :D

I dont think Khan is PPV standard to the paying UK and Ireland fight fans no more. I honestly feel people felt with Khans early days fights being on Sky Box Office against some bums and washed up fighters his numbers dropped. No matter what people say a lot of those numbers he got would of been for the American fight latter that night not the Khan fight early doors.
The thing is Warrens card isnt PPV quailty either nor is the Klitschko v Del Boy fight. I think the only way SKY can do it is try and get a PPV out of the 3 events together. There will be a lot of interest in the heavyweight fight with Haye fighting Klitschko next year some time. So if Sky can get together with the Klitschkos to show that fight at 11 pm then have the Warren card start at 8 and show the best of that card then to Germany and the US it might sell on PPV either card on its own wont sell numbers for Sky.

  6. if it on ppv i do not know who the hell going to buy it.
Khan asian/muslim fan are cheapskates to pay 15quid for an event.

  7. you must be dreaming! khan 40k follower on twitter doesnt mean he a huge star.twitter free and khan fan are muslim who are just cheap and are not gonna pay for it
The ppv buy are going to be awful that sky wont even mention what there going to make on it or they will just make it up

Put it this way when Khan fights people talk about boxing. When Chissy gets in the ring with Wald all the talking I'll do about this fight and its undercard will be on this site because no one outside of the fans will give a ****. Khan is a big name and will draw a heap more buys from the public.

ppv buys will go up because dodgy boxes are on the low now.

im planning to hit a shisha bar in bolton for the fight, the atmosphere is great and you can have a good laugh.

i can see khan sayin forget warren and having his own seperate PPV. if that happens then people will have to choose which one to go for and i think most people would buy the khan ppv because it should be a good fight, wheras wlad vs chisora is a miss match.

There is no way they will do seperate ppv's. Either they'll be on the same ppv or just the Chisora/Liverpool card, if you ask me.

Khan isn't the draw that some people seem to think he is. He had awful figures when he was first put on and while he has got bigger since then he'll be fighting in the wee hours of sunday morning.

So since when have Del boy and Chunky become big draws? If there was a choice between 2 ppv the majority of the paying public will choose to spend on Khan no doubt. After the shamble with the last heavyweight contest (haye/harrison) i think the public will be wary of another mismatch.

None of the Mag 7 were particularly big draws but that was PPV. This has still got Brook, Cleverly, Macklin plus Smith, Bellew and a heavyweight world title fight involving a Brit.

If Khan is such a big draw why did sky not pick up the Malignaggi fight?

In light of Audley being on PPV, we can hardly ***** about Khan being on PPV!

If the Khan-Maidana fight is promoted by Sky the way the Mag 7 card was it will do huge numbers in my opinion way more than the Mag 7 card regardless of it being in the early hours.
