Lazarus, you mention this a lot, but just so you know. This thing that some Khan fans seem to have adopted about how Khan's weight effected his punch resistance, and how moving up in weight has fixed this.. it's fantasy. You will never hear Freddie Roach mention this. The issues around weight drained fighters is to do with the body. This is something completely different, chin is all to do with the genetic/physical properties of your upper neck and skull. Some people can take a punch well, others can't. It's just a fact. Like someone once said 'You can't train to have a chin'
Yeah he will make the weight easily but all those burgers are starting to add up, I noticed he has slight man boobs at the moment, Maidana is sucking his stomach in big time. But that being said its not at Hatton like proportions at the moment, But another 4/5 fights at Light welter then he will go up to 147, He will probably end his career at 154. If Khan can get past Maidana and thats a big if, Then he should fight Judah, Bradley/Alexander fight, Possibly Ortiz and then move up.
If you look at the second Elie Seckbach video, Maidana said he is going to beat Khan for Argentina, Its going to be UK -V- Argentina in his eyes. I dont like the mixture of religion and politics in sport, Remember the Salita fight, It was being touted as a battle of faiths, Islam V Judaism. Now they are trying to tout this bout as the Second Falklands War which is just wrong. Lets hope Khan doesnt get torpedoed like the HMS Sheffield by the Argentinian.
I watched Maidana the other day and he is worse than I thought he was. He's slow on his feet. If you stand right in front of him he can destroy you but if your moving it will be very hard for him. But saying that Khan says he's going to take the fight to Maidana.
slightly disagree there, u can build up ur legs and neck to improve ur punch resistance, which i think alex ariza has done
Khan aint gonna trade with Maidana for ****. Dont believe him. He's gonna follow the game plan good and propa. Shoe shine in and out. Taking out Maidaina later on with a nice flurry. Simples.
No. When people talk about modifying weight distribution, increasing leg strength, that's do to with increasing balance and the how the impact effects you're body. For instance if you've big upper body but weak legs and you take a shot there's an increased likelyhood of that shot putting you off balance and sending you down. Chin (Your bodys ability to remain conscious in response to excessive force exerted on the head) is something completely different. You can't change the shape of your skull ,lower head tissues and the inner workings of your bodys KO defense mechanism. You can strengthen you're lower neck muscles to help to some degree but ultimately the force just goes up to the next weakest link in the chain and most fighters with "chin problems", already do these strengthening exercises as standard anyway. No respectable trainer will ever say he can give a fighter chin. It's not really an opinion based thing, it's a fact that's been known since the turn of the last century.
You responded to my previous post about chin being untrainable by saying you disagreed. I assumed this meant you felt it could be
There's an article over on the scene, Khan apparently "taunting" Maidana saying he took Pacquiao's best punches in sparring and was'nt wobbled. So Pacquiao's best punches don't wobble Khan, but Prescott's had him dancing before hitting the floor
I don't think his chin has actually improved either. His defence has but if he gets hit he could go. Remember he wasn't getting floored by monsterous punchers at lightweight. This is what someone commented to me yesterday: Its crazy to say his chin is improving.
Theres a direct correlation between how much Khan's chin improves and how much my ***** increases in length each day Both began as low values and the gain per day is zero
