Say what you like about Amir Khan but who would've believed a few years ago that he'd be fighting the likes of Barerra and Marquez?
That still isnt enough for some people, some just want him knocked out so they can say I told you so, the set of bitter nobheads!!!!
Fair play to Khan for taking this if he does. Marquez is tough, gritty, an excellent counter puncher and hits with a bang. Granted it may seem as if Maidana is a bigger puncher than Marquez, but let's face it, Marquez has one of the best left upper cut straight right combos ever. If he catches khan, or anyone for that matter, with one of them it's over. In saying that Khan should have most of the physical advantages on the night, but Marquez is enormously experienced so i'm not ruling any result out.
Should be a good fight one that i think has come a bit to early for Khan but we shall see. Win or lose i dont think Khan will disgrace himself. If Khan does actually win i would like to see him fight Maidana (if he hasnt lost) rather than fight Judah as has been reported in the papers today.
I'm looking forward to this..might actually buy a Khan PPV Is it on the undercard of Mayweather-Mosley?
khan once again with clever match making trying to feed off a big name but small mexican he done it with Barrera - which was a very hollow way to get a scalp like Barrera at the tail end of his career on a cut. Now he thinking that he can feed off Marquez too. But surely Marquez has got more left than Barrera had. I go for Marquez to knock him out. I think the time has come with the move to Golden Boy / America where Khan feels he now has to step up and be a super star on the big stage with Las Vegas / Big Names / Multi million pound paydays, etc, etc But this I feel is where he will get found out You cant share a ring with the likes of Marquez and Mayweather and Mosely without being the real deal Lets not forget - he made improvements - but Willie Limond nearly had him - Remeber Maccarenelli made improvements under Enzo Calzaghe - but he was still the same guy who struggled with Mark Hobson and got knocked out when he fought Haye. Khan will come apart again - when a true test arrives. Look at the way Freddie Roach talks about Khan ducking this fight or that fight because its a "business and its gotta make finicial sense" That to me strikes me as Roach himself knows Khan is vunrable and just wants to be very selective about who he fights for the biggest finicial reward.
I don't usually do avatar bets but this is far to good to miss. If Khan stops him inside 5 rounds, I'll wear an avatar of your choice...for 6 months. If he doesn't, same goes. Up for it?
I'd never have believed it, I just wouldnt believe Amir could do featherweight :yep Barrera fight was a farce but Marquez is a very good opponent who will likely Knok him out. Khans size should be more than enough to beat such a small fighter but JMM has a lot of experience and is one tough cookie too.
I think alot of people are overlooking what Kahn is. A highly athletic, accurate fast puncher, aged 23 with a world title under his belt, with a world class trainer and access to world class sparring. He is a very, very good bet to become a top fighter over the next 3 years. As for JMM everyone who has a brain can see that this is a tough matchup but one that Kahn has the tools to win. Roach has worked the opposite corner from JMM multiple times and can at least put forward a better strategy than most in the boxing world. Jmm, on the flip side has all the ability and ring smarts to give Kahn everything he can handle and maybe more. A very good and somewhat ambitious matchup for a fighter at this stage. If Kahn comes through (imo he will) it is an impressive feat and I for one will look forward to his next bout.
I think Khan would be better off keeping his belt and fighting a one-dimensional, but highly regarded, fighter in Maindana, rather than vacating and then getting brutally KTFO by JMM. He'd be back to square one.
He probably would be better off, but it wouldnt make him a better fighter. By taking the JMM fight I think it speaks volumes about his intentions and ambition and is a good move. If he comes through what will you say then?
Fair play to Khan for taking this fight. It could be a clever piece of long-term business. I think there is a greater chance of Maidana getting beat than Khan before their intended meeting. Simply put, if Maidana gets beat in due course then Roach gets his wish and the fight wont happen. Coz if Khan beats JMM, HBO and GBP wont want damaged goods fighting Khan. They'll be moving on to bigger and better things. Maybe Bradley? And there is no way Khan will take care of JMM in five rounds. To disregard Dinamita is a dangerous move. I think it's a 50-50 fight.
