He did a great job and stopped some blatant cheating tactics on Khan's part. Wish he had been involved with Maidana v Alexander and Kirkland v Molina.
I knew from the start of the fight, whenever he said that gay shyt "LETS THROW SOME THUNDER", he was going to be a horrible ref. . . My inclination was proved correct.
I wish more refs penalized pushing and holding. The bouts would be so much more entertaining if the rules were followed. It is frustrating when a fighter keeps clinching over and over again. Somehow, I sense that frustration coming during the rematch, unfortunately.
Deducting points for pushing isn't THAT bad, the problem is that he didn't give any hard warning before. So he did a bad job.
If you get rid of these factors then all of a sudden the only people who are any good are people who can bang and the odd amazing boxer,
Crap ref Tripped Peterson over Kept yelling shitty pointless crap "Fight out of it khan!" x600 - COMPLETELY ruining the show Point deductions were done in a bad manner How such an inexpieranced guy Ref's such a fight I don't know.
Just another example of corruption in boxing with all the point taking even then Kahn really won that fight and I cant stand Kahn but he won that fight and was robbed plain and simple.
This, also both fighters fought a bit dirty, you're not allowed to lead with your head and LP did that - if you are going to be strict on rules, warn and deduct both guys or let them fight like smoger - When they did clinch instead of breaking it up he shouted fight out of it KHAN all the time - when khan pushed he took points away. Pissed me off with lets throw some THUNDDAA He wanted to be the main attraction. if smoger was the referee no point deductions would have occured and an entertaining fight with less controvery would have taken place - great close fight 113-112 khan for me - but nice to see a classy guy who's had a tough life go something his way. Looking foward to the rematch :bbb
:good Even with the point deductions, Khan clearly won that fight. . .I had it 114-111. . I thought Khan pretty clearly won 8 rounds. . . .
He was a terrible ref.. completely disrupted the flow of action and after the first deduction which i could forgive and overlook, the second in the 12th was verrry dubious. The only people who would like this ref are members of the EDL or BNP. even then hes black, so theres a dilemma for such folk
