Seems like the logical step to me. It gets him the chance at a title, and the potential to EARN his shot at Floyd.

All hypothetical, of course, but how do you see this potential matchup playing out?

EDIT: I did mean to attach a poll, but I must have clicked the wrong thing!

    Porter. Late stoppage
Khan can't fight on the inside

Would certainly be an interesting fight. I'm leaning towards Porter, but I'd be very interested to see it.

It would be Khan vs Peterson all over again. I would like to see it.

Porter would manhandle Khan brutally until he stopped him. He's no great shakes in terms of skills but you have to have some good pop to keep Porter from bulldozing his way in, pop which Khan does not possess, and Porter has quick hands so Khan won't be evading his shots once Porter gets there.

Who mentioned anything about Porter fighting Mayweather?

If Khan fights and beats Porter he will hold the IBF title which is going to guarantee a Mayweather fight. Mayweather is most likely fighting Maidana next for the WBC/WBA titles on the line, add to that the IBF from Khan and the fight is definitely going to happen. The real question remains if Khan will be interested in fighting Porter. Already Khan has an intriguing offer to fight Brook.

I agree. It's part of what makes it a good fight. It sets it up for a unification bout.

Even more interestingly, it leaves Floyd with a chance to even unify two divisions at once. Highly unlikely, but an intriguing possibility.

will be a difficult fight for khan.. i see him stuggling in this one .. porter is like a peterson with more pop in his punches.. plus they'll fight in a higher weight

Khan would be stupid to take this fight. Porter is a shorter stockier hard hitter who will land big and TKO him. Porter also is not that known so its high risk little reward even though the IBF title is at stake.

This would be a tough one for Khan he really struggled against Peterson (I think Khan one but thats another story) and Porter seems to have a very high workrate (I'm watching a few more fights of him this weekend)
