Is Khan ready for the Belarussian at this point in time?

More importantly, would his "team" risk such a fight, or instead feed someone like Thaxton or Rees to him.

God forbid we should have another one like Kristansen (spelling). Despite the flowery record, that guy had lost and drawn against the fossil that is Stefano Zoff, couldn't punch for ****, had only fought once in 17 months, and that had been a split decision win over a Romanian journeyman with a 13-12-2 record.

So the options for Khan's next fight are (a) Romanov (b) Thaxton/Rees (c) a decent Lightweight with a ko rate of over 50% (d) "another BUM"

Anybody decent who has minimum 50% stoppages, I'm happy.

Good idea:good I will edit accordingly. Although I will stipulate that the boxer also has to be a natural Lightweight.

    (a) Romanov

    - too much of a risk

    (b) Thaxton/Rees

    - Thaxton Mandatory for Commonwealth but Khan is vacating Title

    - Rees blew his chance when he lost his Title to Kotelnik

    (c) A decent Lightweight with a KO ratio of over 50%

    - really needs to happen as its all getting too predictable

    (d) Another "bum"

    - wouldn't be at all surprised

    - Rees blew his chance when he lost his Title to Kotelnik (elle)

Maybe I'm being cynical, but I think he would have blew his chance had he have won against Kotelnik, and looked good doing it. Khan's people might have ran a mile.

Welcome to the brit forum D-MAC.

I see your point and don't disagree. :good

Could have been a possibility if Rees had just scraped through against Kotelnik and retained his World Title. Lets face it, thats what Khan was after - not so much Rees name on his record!

I think he will fight an American from catagory (d).

Stefano Zoff would be a step up in class.

Khan v Romanov doesn't look particularly attractive for either right now.

Risk v reward and all that.

Yeah, but this way John Rawlings could say "this is no mug in here with Khan. This guy is a former World Champion", and knowing the rest of the tubes on ITV they'll make it sound like he's in there with Floyd Mayweather.

Actually Thaxton and Rees would both be interesting, and definitely closer to what the public wants to see.

I have to admit, I never heard of most of his opponents until he fought them.

Warren wont let his little ***** in their with the class of Romanov. Khan is talented but this is a level too far.

Surely FW couldn't have used his persuasive powers for them to elevate this average fighter into a good position so that Khan could knock him off.... That type of stuff doesn't happen does it?
