Kahn + Hunter might not be bad.. As long as Kahn comes in humble as the student.. Hunter will improve his D and give him a bost in I.Q Angulo is what he is.. not sure Hunter can do anything with him...
I think Angulo can thrive with an inside game like Ward's...I'm not sure Khan has the whiskers for that kind of approach. Hope it works out for him - Khan is great for the sport. He's consistently fighting a high level of competition.
Maybe you're right but Maidana for example with Robert Garcia looked to have improve by using his jab and even upper body movement in his fight Saturday, maybe Hunter can have the same effect on Angulo. Hunter outside of Ward is still somewhat unproven as a trainer so we shall see.
I think Virgil Hunter is the best trainer Khan could of possibly went to. Hopefully he teaches him a few things.
1. I disagree about Maidana looking very improved. Aside from occasional head movement when being swarmed, I found none of his "improvements" to actually improve anything about his fighting. I think the Maidana of 1-2 years ago would have stopped Karass a tad earlier with less trouble. Then again, Karass looked improved himself... 2. I agree completely that Hunter is unproven aside from his lifelong prodige; Ward. He didn't deserve the 2011 Trainer of the Year, if I'm being honest. Garcia deserved it far more...
By all accounts Khan is a very disciplined student , quick to learn and apply that learning. My only issue is that he is a natural 'boxer', thats his game, in and out. He needs inside game but he shouldn't change his style completely.
