I think it's a decent fight for both of them. Khan remains busy and is able to get another camp with Hunter under his belt. This time facing an orthodox fighter instead of a southpaw. While Algieri has a chance to put the Pacquaio defeat behind him and stake his claim as a major player in the welterweight division if he manages to upset Khan.

The funny thing about this is that Khan describes Algieri an an A class fighter, that pushed pac all the way and has decent power.

khan needs to take on a better caliber of fighter if he wants that may fight. and with brook and thurman knocking at his door why cant he just pick one of those?

That is bang on. Add Bradley and Maidana for good measure.

Algieri was good enough for Pacquaio for a welter weight world title defense on PPV.

Timothy Bradley fought a sem-retired 40 year old Joell Casaymayour so that he could stay busy. After that fight he was able to land a fight against Pacquiao fight and people here defended it calling it a smart move to keep busy till the shot against p4p.

So why not Khan for a stay busy fight. I understand the choice but I'm not happy with it since it won't be exciting.

Styles makes fights and while Algieri isn't some awful journeymen none of his strengths pose a problem to Khan while they could have done to the shorter more aggressively minded Pacquiao. This is way there has been a backlash with this choice of opponent.

dont think bradley had a £5mil offer (roughly $7.5M) to fight for a world title though? khans only had 2 fights in the last 2 years or so, and won't be fighting after this once till at least ocbober because of Ramadan. If he was fighting 3/4 times a year a stay busy is fine. This isn't and is sending his career backwards. it'll do **** numbers in tv too, which will make him less attractive to may / pac

Should Khan fight Brook? Yes. But I'm going to give Khan a pass (of sorts) on this one for now and here's why.

In the past Khan has proven he will fight anybody. He has a decent resume for a still relatively young fighter and now he is obviously waiting to get a fight vs either Mayweather or Pacquaio. Bradley pretty much got a pass for waiting for the Pacquaio fight a few years ago. Khan wants money obviously but he wants to challenge himself against the best (Mayweather fight) and in a way is unlucky not to have gotten the Mayweather fight already. People have a short memory and forget also that Brook has essentially fought nobody besides Porter.

Also, hindsight is a wonderful thing: Many people thought Collazzo and Alexander were pretty dangerous fights for Khan before he won convincingly, but became cherry-picks after.

Also, at least Khan isn't holding a title hostage. Garcia for example has been a bigger culprit by getting a gift vs Herrera, fighting a nobody in Salka and now not putting his belt on the line against Peterson.

Khan needs to fight Brook or Mayweather-Pacquaio in his next fight after Algieri imo. I'm not happy as such with the Algieri fight but it isn't as bad as many are making out and the Brook-Khan fight will still be there after the Algieri fight.

    :deal

Khan was unlucky not to get a Mayweather fight before now really and its not as if Collazzo, Alexander and Algieri are bums.

I like it. It's more competitive than Khan vs Broner but AL isn't looking to make that fight between those two at the moment. Both are two fighters with a decent following and AL wants to build and preserve that. Algeri is a stiffer test than Adrien which makes the fight more interesting from a competitive standpoint. From a money and ratings standpoint Btoner would make more sense but that's not realistic and Algeri is a fighter who is recognizable because he was Pacquiao's last opponent. The fight between Algeri and Khan makes sense and a good match-up in styles. Khan should win, but Algeri had a style and physical dimensions that will give Amir some trouble.

Decent fight and it's happening next month. Not like this is Khan's only fight in 2015.
