The funny thing is Algieri was good enough to fight Pacquiao on ppv. Even now they try to big up Algieri to make Pacquiao's win over him look better. Everyone knows that's a shi fight, showtime knows it khan even knows it.

That'd be an interesting turn of events although I'd say it's highly unlikely.

If it indeed falls through I suspect Khan will challenge Frampton to move up and fight him.

The heat Khan is taking for this fight is clearly worrying him and his team and that is actually surprising. I guess they realise nobody is going to tune into a fight with an opponent who has just been dominated recently and is no threat as all.

Hopefully they change their mind and take the Broner fight. While once again Broner lacks power above lightweight to be a serious threat he at least has the profile and the ability to sell the fight to the fans with his obnoxious Mayweather clone act. This fight always made the more sense. If Maidana can get a shot at Floyd by beating Broner, why not Khan? Also Khan would actually be the good guy in this match up and Broner the villian. The Broner fight is easily winnable and ticks all the boxes without taking a risk with a puncher.

without a TV deal to pay the fighters i'm not sure how a fight can be signed since they can't really offer and agree a figure. My guess is they thought showtime would take the fight for say $1mil, and the split will be 80/20 in khans favour, without that tv deal, algeiris probably wondering if its worthwhile.

algeiri will be best off going to 140, (is he stil wbo champ there?) if he fights garcia and jabs and runs he's got a half decent chance. A rematch vs provo would probably make him a few £$£ too.

khan just posted on twitter something about how "the truth is about to come out" haha. Probably a made up excuse about how cotto/broner/thurman ducked him and this is the reason he has to fight algieri :yep

Looks like Khan is backing off after the public outrage and after SHOWTIME gave him the finger.

I don't fully buy this. Broner still looks very strong above lightweight and he's got good sharp punches. I think he still has decent pop- enough to trouble Khan anyway.

He did manage to hurt Maidana, even if he did get comprehensively dominated for 9 of the 12 rounds.

I hope not. Broner isn't exactly a far better opponent than Algieri. I'd rather see him take the offer he was given and fight Bradley for the IBF Eliminator.

^^ :deal Its the biggest and best fight out there for Khan. A 100% defo huge PPV fight in the UK. And a world title on the line to. Khan can only refuse this fight if he has real genuine doubt and fear of Kell Brook. Man up and show the world if your good enough to take Brookes belt and if you are you'll be richer and have a world title and more clout for big fights down the line. Put up or shut up.
