I agree with what Khan recently tweeted that 2 months is not enough time to build up a Khan-Brook match and that it SHOULD be done later this year or the beginning of next year, (assuming both keep winning), so i had come to terms with it not being Brook. But seriously, ALGERI? Come on. I could have lived with Broner, at LEAST that fight would have an exciting, fun build up and provide for an exciting event with their two personalities. What hype, heat or spark does khan-algeri really generate? NON. Theres no suspense as to whether khan will struggle or not, theres not going to be any drama or pre-fight hype, its a DEAD fight in every aspect. This is just terrible. It should have been Bradley, Rios, Broner or Thurman. Enough tune ups.
HA, Amir khan has took the twitter announcement and video off his twitter account, he was getting too much abuse, he deserves it.
Algieri was acceptable enough for Manny Pacquaiuo to defend his World title in a PPV fight. So why not Khan, its a non-title fight and not a PPV fight. Pretty good for just a stay busy fight.
The only reason he's going for Chris is so that he can KO him and say 'I did what Manny couldn't" and have that as a bargaining tool, which is daft as he could have Kell's title instead which would be a really bargaining chip if he faced May or Manny as one of those will need that title to be undisputed.
It was **** for Pacman, no one thought it was great but its even worse for Khan. Not a 147 fighter but keeps accepting these 147 fighst for paydays, i don't blame Algieri for that.
I never said it was great for Pacman. I said it was acceptable for Pacquaio to defend his title against Algieri. Having said that I am certainly not thrilled at the choice of Khan's opponent.
"He knows how to box, he knows how to move well. He takes a decent amount of shots and he's got a decent amount of power. "Hopefully this can lead me onto the bigger fights in the future, which we're all looking at." 1. No Khan, he hasn't got decent power, he has no power whatsoever at World level. 2. Why not have a big fight now?, you said the same before and after the Devon fight. Daft cu nt.
Pacquiao didn't get the same stick for the fight that Khan is getting. You will all say you didn't but I know a lot of you was saying that he was a decent opponent, he beat Provodnikov who whilst limited is a top contender at 140, no doubt. Khan could have got a better opponent for the fight, again there is no doubt, however Algieri is a good fighter, who will prove to be a very decent fighter at 147, yes he lacks power and he has lost once, but who did he lose to? Pacquiao, no shame in that. Khan we all know is holding out for his big opportunity, ive said it before and ill say it again, I don't blame him at all. He knows he is one of the biggest money fighters, if not the biggest outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao. He will get the fight against Pacquiao in November/ December vs Pacquiao should he lose to Mayweather and from there he will still have the option of fighting Brook because all Brook cares about is beating him not about the money that goes along with it.
Khan's behaviour chasing Mayweather has been shameful. He is only one big win away from being as deserving of the Mayweather fight as pretty much anyone else, but rather than try to earn it...
Difference is pac's last opponents before algeri were bradley, rios, marquez, bradley and mosley. Khans previous opponents have been a shot alexander, collazo, diaz and molina. All bums who he was expected to beat with ease. So that is why pac didn't get much stick for taking on the nutritionist. Khan is a shameless ducker and no amount of spin from his fanboys or PR will change that.
Beachie Pacquiao did get grief for fighting Algieri but the difference was after Provodnikov some people were not sure how good Algieri was, we found out. And you trying to justify this by saying Algieri is "good fighter" is a shocker, he was battered in his last fight, Pacquiao showed everybody how out of his depth he really was at 147 in terms of world level and I am assuming you believe Khan is world level at welterweight so what's the point? It is such a bad fight it has been rumoured on here and on Twitter that certain networks in the US have already passed on it. It is sad, Khan says Brook needs to raise his profile but then fights Chris Algieri in a fight being passed on by networks.
Cause there was clearly a massive gulf in class when PAC beat him from pillar to post. Hope khan gets beat. Telling brook to fight Thurman, why doesn't khan fight him??? Oh yeah he is a puncher!!
