    Is this a dream?

    Has Frank Warren gone insane?

The only explanation I can think of here is that Frankie caught Khan nailing Mrs Warren.

I have no doubt Sky TV told Warren that he needs to find a real opponent where the fight can be sold on PPV. Sky can build this up as Barrera being the guy that retired Naseem Hamed and the guy that fought epic battles v Morales. Its a great fight for Sky although it could end up finishing Khan off for good.

    Got it in one :deal

Warren has basically put Khan in the last chance saloon, due to the pressure from Sky. In a way, it is a shame how everything has turned out because Khan is talented, but the hypetrain got silly.

MAB will time him and KO him. Different league and MAB is not shot.

I love how people are saying Khan KO's MAB. If Pac & JMM couldnt KO MAB, what hope does Khan have? His amateurish flurries wont work against a master, in the midst of his combo's MAB will land 3 punch counter and not simply cover up like his previous opponents.

This makes sense for both parties IMO.

For Khan, Barrera is still Barrera. Nobodies don't beat MAB...even at this part of his career, he's STILL a tough opponent. If Khan wins (and does so decisively), He can stand up and say "I DID SOMETHING THAT ONLY PAC HAS DONE IN RECENT MEMORY! I SOUNDLY CRUSHED THE GREAT MAB!" He gets a much needed name on his resume and one that will hold a lot of weight in the boxing community. The opponent is extremely risky but the reward is great. If he KO's Barrera then all he has to do is say yes and he'll be handed a title shot. At this point in time, it's do or die for Khan. If he beats Barrera then Prescott becomes a distant memory and all is right with his stock. If he loses then that's probably it for his standing as boxings top prospect.

As per Barrera, why not? He'll get paid handsomely and all Khan has to trouble him is speed and power. Even at this current stage of Barrera's career (and he's not shot), he's good enough to beat Khan when he feels like it. He's gone up against a bunch of Amir Khan-lite fighters and handled them with ease. He's also the more durable fighter and his stamina can't be questioned even at such a strange weight. If Barrera KO's Khan then the ticket is punched for a title. Most importantly? A win over Amir Khan would probably set the stage for a big money rematch against JMM or potentially? A move up in weight to face off against Ricky Hatton? The possibilities are endless for him.

In summation, the deciding fighter in this fight is MAB. IF he feels like doing it, he can quiz Khan with his toughness, general ring savvy and grit. He could force Amir into a brawl at will or outbox him soundly. Amir can probably hurt him that much is certain...but Barrera has a chin that's withheld many a big puncher before. He's calm when hurt and probably one of the best counter guys when HURT in the business. It's simply a matter of MAB showing up to fight to be honest. There's where I have my doubts.

Against JMM, Rocky Juarez (twice) and against Pac there was a different Barrera in the ring. One who seemed extremely gun shy and perhaps even bored with the boxing game in general. He reminded me a QB who still has the big arm but was making reads slower and holding onto the ball longer because he feared an INT. It's nothing physical with Barrera, as a fighter he is as he's always been. Mentally though you have to wonder how much his heart is really in it. He never presses his advantage any more and seems content to just sit back and go for the points. This isn't to say Barrera CAN'T hurt people because he still can. He had Pac hurt at one point (incorrectly called a head butt) and also put JMM down on the canvas (incorrectly called a slip).

If Barrera decides to turn back the clock in his head then he wins this fight easily. If he comes out looking bored, lethargic and generally disinterested in his life...I actually think Khan will beat him and soundly.

Sounds like a good old fashioned pick em.

    This fight makes sense.

And to the people comparing Amir Khan to Naz :patsch

Apart from being British and Muslim....they are NOTHING alike.

    What the HELL?

No idea where this fight came from...

    But:

    Is on the money.

This is way too much of a big step for Khan. There's only so much that Roach can do to help him in this situation. Even if Barrera is past his prime, he's still a veteran of the ring and a living legend. He'll find a way to get past Khan's pure speed and connect on the chin -- most likely by timing him, ala Judah/Tzyu -- and then it's lights out for Khan.

I personally don't like Khan but you have to admire his balls, i was expecting another feather fisted nobody.

Even at this stage in his career MAB is dangerous, but Roach must think if he trained Pacman to beat him then he could do the same with Khan

    1. Khan has been knocked down and genuinely hurt by Willie 'I-hit-as-hard-as-a-scrap-of-velvet' Limond.

    2. Barrera has fought people like Morales, Pacman, Marquez, etc. Khan's best opponent was most likely St. Clair. COMPLETELY different levels, almost light years away. It's the difference between having experience against the best of the best and having experience against average - good. Sparring with Pac, while helpful, doesn't equal a real match, either.

    3. In Barrera's last three fights he's knocked down the counter-punching master Marquez in a close fight, gone the distance with the P4P 1, and TKO'd a no-name. In Khan's last three fights he's been utterly destroyed by a virtually unknown Prescott in the first round, gone through a very tough, bruising battle with a long past his prime/former super-feather Gomez (who STILL managed to floor Khan and hurt him with a bodyshot) and had a great outing against the limited ***an.

Roach's training should definitely help Khan, but this is a bloody risky fight. Barrera is very faded (obviously not the same man that made Hamed look like a joke) but he's NOT shot. He should be the clear favourite.
