shimmy has it dead right. its not exactly a duck by tim bradley, it just makes more sense to fight someone else, rather than khan. whats happening with amir khan's opponents? since he went to golden boy he's seem's to have had no end of trouble getting a fight. the negotiations with maidana went on far too long, and then we had the lamont peterson, on, off fiasco before the paul mccloskey fight was eventually made (after being on and off itself)
this is all from khans side they are happy to say what bradley will get but what will khan get ? tims the chqmp
From what everyone is saying i can fully understand the Bradley camps thinking. But what really makes them think they are actually gunna get this Pacquaio. Too many people are calling Pacquiao out these days from lightweight to light middle and for most of em it just isnt gunna happen
Bit of a ***** move considering he was calling Khan out a while back. Khan beats him so I don't blame him tho.
How on earth would there be interest from Pac's camp for Bradley? I know this comes from Khan's camp but has there been any confirmation from Pac's camp that they're interested at all?
Regarding this **** about him getting a $1.2 million guarantee from HBO for his next fight - surely that isn't $1.2 million to fight anybody? He couldn't just fight some unranked nobody and pick up his cheque? Surely there is a degree of quality control and HBO can turn round and tell Timmy to **** off? He should still be left fighting a top level fighter shouldn't he?
Im sure i speak on behalf of alot of fans. Id rather see a competitive unification fight, than someone else getting fed to pacman.
Somebody said further up the thread... It's alright Khan saying "they've offered Bradley this and that", but what is Khan making from this fight if it were to happen? In my opinion it should be a Klitschko - Haye type of thing and split everything 50/50, but you can guarentee team Khan aint wanting to do that
I was wanting to see Khan-Bradley it was a big fight that I think would have been entertaining as well. On his side Bradley had beaten Alexander, Peterson, Holt, and Witter(when he was champ and still relevant). On his end Khan had beaten Kotelnick, Madiana, and Malignaggi, basically they had cleared the division out and were the last two guys standing. The fight makes sense to happen now. I can understand Bradley trying to get the Pacquaio fight instead. He could sign with Top Rank and get back on HBO, with his gauranteed slot, against a lesser guy than Khan and then try to get a fight with Pacquaio in early 2012. We still get good fights since Khan has plenty of options at 140 and Pac-Bradley would be good but it would be a let down to not get Bradley-Khan after they both had worked their way into postition to face each other.
Khan has to be one of the most unpopular british fighters of all time, thats the perception which is difficult to shake. Poor management, poor P.R., race, it's a mixture but they all contribute to his unpopularity. In addition Warren has unfortunately got the british TV market pretty much sewn-up, Hatton and Calzaghe got away with it because they split from Warren so much later in their careers and had managed to build-up a solid fanbase. You have to give props to Amir though, he's taking on tougher challenges at the same age, especially if he manages to unify against Judah, than either Ricky or Joe did as they were still under Uncle Frank's protective wing. Unfortunately, if it all goes pear-shaped then he's screwed with next to zero appeal in his home market....
