Made no mention of the 'approach', just pointed out the lack of speed. But it's pretty clear no boxer would plan to 'throw meaningless combinations that get countered'...
Nice job @Rumsfeld. Thanks for posting . Aside from Khan-Brook, there are two other things I took from this video. First. Paulie Malignaggi has made some really bad hairstyle choices ... and second, seeing Golovkin against Kell spotlights how much Triple G has slowed down in his recent fights.
No outcome would surprise me in this one, and logically speaking, I do believe things favor this scenario more so than mine. But all the same, I have a sneaking suspicion Khan will turn that clock back a bit in this one.
Khan has been BLESSED with a weak chin. Yes, I said BLESSED. When it's that easy to have your lights turned off you don't need to take so much punishments therefore I see having a weak chin as a self preservation thing.
I wouldn't read too much into those training videos, that looked like the warm up getting the mechanics working and then later on pick up the speed and power. Khan's speed will be at worst decent on fight night and I still expect him to look quick.
A few years ago Brook would have blasted through him, now though the smart money is on Khan. GGG took Kell's soul, I would have loved to see him fight Spence without the 3G fight on his resume.
Good video @Rumsfeld but I couldn't disagree more. I think Brook looked like a million bucks in rounds 1-3 against Crawford, and that what happened to him in the 4th wasn't the result of him being shot to bits, even though he probably shouldn't have drained himself down to get to WW again, and at that weight, he is in fact shot to bits. I think instead, it had everything to do with the trajectory, torque behind and impact of that horrid jab right hook hybrid that he got caught with right as he was leaning into it, it was the neck jarring and head twisting from that nasty ass angle he was hit from that did the damage, and that would discombobulate and rob a goddamn bull of his equilibrium. Quite frankly, it's shocking it didn't KO Brook cold and that he didn't even go down from it. I cringe just thinking what a shot like that would've done to Khan who is equally shot at WW, so much so, he couldn't take a punch from Sammy Vargas. So I'm not really letting that influence my judgment here. So... I think Khan and his speed advantage might give him an early edge, then Brook will figure out his timing, clip him with a few vicious straight rights as Khan's lunging in, and that'll be all she wrote.
Despite them both being shot or close enough to it, it doesn't matter, this is still an intriguing fight due to the history and the unknown factors in regards to how much either have left. I have always favoured Brook, he simply the better schooled fighter with a style that will pose problems of Khan. Brook will be patient let Khan lead and look to time him with a counter when Khan throws his dumb 4-5 punch combos. Khan will no doubt win the early rounds with his speed like he so often does but when faced with an opponent who will counter him he's very vulnerable. I fully expect Brook to catch him and stop him at some point. Maybe Khan can repeat what Crawford did but Khan isn't Crawford, he's far more predictable and won't land a counter punch like Crawford did on Brook. That jab was brutal, Crawford timed him coming in with the shot, meaning Brook put all his weight into an oncoming fist and his head bobbled around like a weeble, no wonder he was badly hurt. Khan doesn't have the skills to time Brook coming in like that. If Brook steps in, Khan will move away or shell up, not counter, he doesn't counter punch. So as per usual I expect to see Khan spectacularly KO'ed.
149lb catchweight , 10lb rehydration clause. Khan by ko. https://www.boxingnews24.com/2022/02/amir-khan-vowing-to-finish-kell-brooks-career-on-feb-19th/
