Brook only signed the GGG fight because Khan went for Canelo. Brook wasted his time on stupid shitty defences when he should of been fighting good names. Jo Jo Dan, Bizier and Frankie Gavin weren’t top 30 when he fought them.
He signed for Golovkin because Hearn couldn't (or wouldn't put his hand deep enough in his pockets to) secure him any defining fight at welter, Khan or otherwise. Even landing Jessie Vargas was an issue. I'm not sure what it is about the word 'opportunity' some don't understand.
Khan hopefully. Brook has been managed awfully. The Porter win was quality and then he had 3 awful defences, stupidly took on Golovkin, killed himself to get back down for Spence, a few crap 154 fights then killed himself again for Crawford. His dad is his manager and I know of him through a few people and apparently him and Brook have regularly fallen out over his career.
Why should any promoter put their hands in their pockets? Hearn didn’t get those fights because the money the fighters wanted wasn’t there. He’s not going to set them up out of charity.
Well, Brook certainly shouldn't be blamed more than the promoter who pledged to get him the biggest fights in the division and never delivered. Big promoters do take calculated losses on fights. If Hearn had put out to entice Thurman to the UK when that fight was being discussed, for instance, instead of throwing Kell in with a middleweight puncher, it would've been a heavily promoted event that would've made Brook a big domestic star had he won (in addition to sparing him the senseless, career-altering beating he took up at 160). Hearn just isn't as high a roller as he likes to project and wasn't prepared to take the risk and back the guy he touted as the future P4P Picasso upon signing him.
very well put. Although im sure you'll agree alot of Brooks issues arose through his own doing, the incident in Spain being one of course. But absolutely no denying Hearn didnt get him the right fights at the right time. And being honest, its not exactly difficult to find good fights at 154.
