Khan handles Guerrero with ease; Guerrero’s record is really a mirage to me. Khan has chin issues, but is not as glass jawed as people think, like he is just going to fall asleep every time he takes a punch. Guerrero has little to no power at welterweight, because he’s not a welterweight (I know Khan has spent his time at 140lbs, but he did look physically thicker in his debut at 147lbs with Collazo.) Guerrero’s last stoppage came in 2010, against a lightweight with 15 losses. Seeing how handily Khan beat Collazo in his last fight, with his new smarter, more boring style I don’t even think the roughhouse tactics which RG derailed Andre Berto with will have much chance of making an impression. He’s rough, he’s tough, but a puncher he is not. Khan cruises to a UD. Mares-Santa Cruz could be a real humdinger though, but chances they move from matching LSC with Roman straight into Mares? Slim.
2 division titlist 2 division interim-titlist ...Lets not give that much credit for interim champs now.
These are good fights I take Santa Cruz against Mares, although I have not seen enough of Mares to make a good argument. Khan vs. Guerrero is also really interesting. I favor Amir Khan to outbox him and beat him, but who knows? This is Amir Khan we’re talking about. It depends which one shows up. But, at his best Khan is a much better fighter than Guerrero, in my opinion. I think he could move, clinch, and use his speed affectively, but he does have a terrible chin so he is always vulnerable, but I’d put money on him.
