:tired Oh you're one of those hey...and there i was thinking we could have an intelligent boxing discussion.
the Mr. Vip comment was handled by another mod.....that's between them and him....I would of banned for it myself as I have issued 3 bans for racist quotes about Mayweather in the last 2 days. As for people getting banned for others things...that again, between them and another moderator. It's all about context, and the way it is said....and if he does it again, he will be taking a vacation regardless.
Well it took its time but we got a puncher vs Khan now, i know you and me wanted this to happen for some time now. This will be a great exciting fight, this is what boxing is about.
Damn right Darni. This fight materialises, and I'm right on that Khan bandwagon.:deal If Khan wins, thats 3 wins against top 5 LWW's with differing styles (top 5 at the time Khan fought them - Kotelnik, Malignaggi and Maidana). You can't argue with that form line, even if you have to throw in that shitbag Salita.
I'm favouring a Khan win but so many outcomes in this fight when you consider Khan's speed and heart, Maidana's power and Khan's weak chin. This could be FOTY!
Yeah you know a win over Maidana, then fighting the winner of Bradley-Alexander, that would leave Khan with all the 140 titles and mission complete at 140, 2 more fights. Then move upto 147 (Which i feel will be Khan's best fighting weight for his size and frame). But one thing at a time, lets get Maidana out the way, which is not such a simple task, but one i think Khan will overcome God willing.
Okay, fair enough. :good So tell me. How does this plodder who is quite simply...a dumb technician. Has no set up, let alone a blinder jab, doesn't vary the speed of his punches, squares up too much and is a sucker for a conventional jab and straight right. Beat a much more mature Khan who has all the advantages, has learnt to employ Winky's earmuffs plus with the magic touch of master Roach under him to boot? Ask yourself my friend, is this really a guy to put some stock in? Trust me, Maidana will be a friday fight night poster child after this fight. He'd better enjoy this one big payday he has left and then he's out like Diane Abbott's campaign, lol! Tell me how he pulls this off without mentioning or refering to "chin" issues. The clock is ticking 'Right Hook' the floors your's so, shoot!
Not to steal Right Hooks thunder, but did you see the recent Segura - Calderon fight? Segura was puking sloppy technique all over the ring, but he still chased Calderon silly and made him capitulate. Khan is obviously a bigger puncher than Calderon, but he doesn't have his ring smarts. Khan is more younger and fresher than Calderon, but he probably doesn't have his punch resistance. Maidana probably doesn't have the punch resistance of Segura, but he may be a bigger single-shot threat. My guess is Maidana goes for the flies-on-**** approach, tries to stay on top on Khan throughout. Khan has to back-peddle for large spells, but obviously has to stand his ground every so often to connect with unexpected sharp punches off the front foot (which may cause a flash kd). Khan must not, I repeat must not, read too much into the Corley fight and think Maidana is that **** that he can just meet him centre ring and duke it out. If that happens we've got Prescott II on our hands. Just my take. I'm starting to lean towards a late Khan stoppage myself. He has to pull Maidana's fangs first before committing to anything approaching rash. Khan must also not make the mistake of jumping on Maidana, like Ortiz did, after a flash kd or he may himself suffer a heavier kd or even a KO.
Khan has never been knocked out with a single punch.Prescott hammered him with 3 hooks to put him down and because of his inexperience he didn't take a knee count he just got straight back up and when they continued he didn't even bother to defend himself just thought he could brawl himself out the situation and got caught with a couple more hard shots. I think if he were to get hurt again he would use his brain and defend or run to recover. I think his chin issue is blown out of proportion the Limmond and Gomez knockdowns were temple shots and at 140 he has more meat on his legs and his balance is much improved.
Yes, but he was completely ****ed from the first one. You can't run and tuck up if your brain has flown off to Narnia. It would have taken some kind of miracle for him to survive the follow up barrage from that first concussive punch.
I think Khan takes this by wide UD, knocking Maidana down once or twice on the way, as Maidana walks onto Khans shots. With Khans speed, jab and improved defence he should be able to box Maidana's head off all night long. My only 'fear' I suppose with Khan is, as DMac pointed out, when/if Khan knocks Maidana down, he can't chase after him and engage because he will get caught. Maidana is very dangerous when hurt as the Ortiz fight proved. Much like Nigel Benn in that respect.
But it took another 2 flush shots to put him on his arse and while he was flying in Narnia after the first hook instead of trying to throw a 1,2 he should've tucked up or taken an 8 count on his knee after the initial knockdown and put on his earmuffs for a few seconds and Prescott would've punched himself out. But its all hindsight and hopefully he has learnt how to react when being stunned.
