Marquez is too good a fighter to be used as a mere stepping stone for Khan.

Being used as a stepping stone? Surely pretty much every fight is a stepping stone for someone.

Don't they think he has a chance?

I think Marquez has worked too hard and was overlooked for too long to just be used as a stepping stone for Khan. He's one of the elite guys in the sport, despite the loss to Mayweather. Khan hasn't properly been tested at world level yet so I don't see why he deserves a shot at Marquez!

I don't think you can call it 'ducking' when you're being asked to operate outside your natural weight class. He should tell Khan to come and see him at 135 or 130.

Marquez is ducking Khan?, He's not done anything. His trainer has just said that he doesn't think he should take the fight, thats all.

Either way, If he did Marquez is hardly ducking. If Khan pulled out people wouldn't say "HES DUCKING MARQUEZ", because Marquez isnt his mandatory. It's just a proposed idea by GBP to which Khan agreed to.

My opinion is that it would be a tough fight for Marquez, I think he'd win. But I would much rather see him fight someone who doesn't have such speed, like Katsidis or Hatton. Either of those would be a great fight for fans and far more interesting than Khan Marquez would be with Khan doing the Roach-Khan 'Hit and run' blueprint

By that logic, Pacquiao's ducking Williams and Martinez.

His trainer said he doesn't think he should take the fight because he thinks he would lose....

    Blatant duck.

And to say it's a 'stepping stone' for Khan implies that they think Marquez is being used to get beat, which his trainer must think is the likely result.

That doesn't mean he's ducked him. People have the right to give their opinion that Marquez has ducked Khan when Marquez or GBP say the fight isn't going ahead because he doesn't want it.

His trainer advising against it is just his trainers opinion
