This thread is premature in that even khan himself says he isn't ready for Mayweather yet, however that it is a potential fight 12-15months down the line.

I take on board Darni's comments but also feel concerned at how quickly Khan was unable to stick with the gameplan when faced with pressure/bright lights/whatever.

If Khan keeps progressing at the pace has done over the last 2yrs then I think a fight with Mayweather would actually be more competitive than most think.

I'll reserve judgement until after the khan v Bradley fight.

Mayweather beats him fairly easily. Khan would get frustrated by Floyd's defense and would be countered with hard straight rights and left hooks all night long, especially in the second half of the fight when Khan would start to slow down. Khan has fast flurries but he's not very accurate a lot of the time, and he'd be even less accurate against one of the best defensive fighters ever. Mayweather by wide UD, probably 8-4, or by late Hatton style KO.

are you ******ed? if floyd could not KO an overblown marquez and a shot mosley, how could he stop pacquiao early?

also you can see how much good of a boxer pacquiao was watching what he did against oscar comparing to what floyd did to oscar and you will get an idea how far out of pacquiao's league mayweather really is. :patsch

I believe he can(won't tho). Height advantage, (probably) reach advantage, lot of speed & Roach probably knows Mayweathers style pretty well. He'd have to box from the outside. Use his speed to not let Floyd get in range. Everytime he try's, hit him with fast short combo's or a quick jab then move. Also don't be too aggressive, try to land a couple of quick scoring shots then wait for him to come to you. Highly unlikely tho.

It’s too early to be ****ing talking about this. No one in their right mind is expecting the Khan of today to be even remotely competitive against Mayweather. Those who have mentioned this potential matchup - Khan, Roach, Oscar and Schaefer – have all said it’s one for the future if Khan manages to clear up the 140 division, improve in the process, and if they’re lucky, Mayweather declining slightly. So if you’re going to talk about it, talk about it in the correct context. Instead of barking **** that’s blatantly obvious..... “Khan ain’t done ****, Mayweather kill him bla bla bla”. Too many idiots are acting as if this fight is taking place tomorrow.

In 2011? Mayweather by a ****ing mile.

As Khan is so much younger eventually there will be a time when he can beat mayweather, and his jab, speed and reach can give Mayweather problems... he could do very well on the outside with mayweather, but his inside game and defense are terrible, he doesnt even know how to tie up, Mayweather would destroy him today. Khan needs to improve that aspect greatly and Mayweather needs to get older and loose his timing. Khan should fill out more to be a proper welter as well to deal with mayweather on the inside. Who knows what mayweather will be like in 2013, Khan will only be better.

Hatton destroyed paulie in their "chess match" and actually won the battle of the jabs, look at how he did against mayweather..

khan doesn not throw single shots anywhere near the speed of floyd, and floyd is not losing his legs, he just hasn't used them much in the last few years, also, paulie has mediocre defence at best, mayweather has sublime defence, and he counters, hes not like a kotelnik who will just wait for khan to finish. do you really see floyd having trouble pull countering over khans jab? and mayweather has the longer reach... khan gets killed

I may get shot for this but in 2012 if mayweather is 34 he has as big of a chance to beat him as pacquiao does now ( not 0% *****s) about 50%, I think pacquiao actually suits mayweather better then khan purely based on styles.

    I agree with this.

In about 2 years time Khan pulls off the upset.
