Witter speaks on the offer on the table to fight Khan

"My manager John Ingle spoke to me about the Khan offer, I'm up for this 100 per cent," said Witter. "It would be an opportunity too good to turn down fighting for a world title again."

The Bradford switch-hitter is now campaigning at welterweight and makes his long-awaited return to the ring against Victor Puiu, in Canada on February 19.

Only last week he told Sky Sports' Ringside he could no longer get down to 140lbs, but with a world title on the line, he says neither will be an issue.

"I'm fighting on the 19th February in Canada at welterweight for the first time and I'm on the weight now at 10st 7lbs which is usually what I weigh three weeks before making the 10st limit, so I don't see any problems doing it again," he said.

"Training has been perfect and sparring the likes of Kell Brook has sharpened my skills.

"Khan, you have never boxed anyone with my experience, calibre and credentials so if you want to start playing with fire be careful you might get burnt."

Please khan no. Lately his credibility has soared since moving to the weight. Kotelnick has proven to be a top contender, as has maidana now. Plus the stoppage of paulie. This is a huge huge step backwards and an unnecessary one at that.

I'd love the irony if witter knocked him out, then rematched alexander, bradley and judah winning all and overtaking both khan and hatton in the atg rankings lol.

If it's only Witter after all this it would be disappointing. I mean, Witter would have been a great fight in his prime, but he's gotta be way past it now.

 

Nothing’s happened for us to begin thinking Witter is at the front of the queue. He’s only been contacted about the possibility of it, that’s it. Just like Katsidis, Murray and Peterson have been contacted.

The most probable pick will be Peterson, definitely not Witter. Not only would he struggle to make weight, he’s also got a date in February – bringing the risk of an injury which could jeopardize things. That’ll really leave Khan in the ****.
