Khan will be making at least £1.5million from this fight even if Goldenboy, Sky and everyone else in the world makes a loss Khan will get his cash.
Like I've said before, these ridiculous rumours that do the rounds that people read on an internet forum and then regurgitate as fact are quickly realised to be utter nonsense if you just think about them. If it was the case and he gets "1.5million whether everyone makes a loss" then do you really think Team Khan would be squabbling over opponents trying to pay them as little as possible?
First of all, is it 1.5 million in dollars that Khan recieves? Or is it pounds? I'm pretty it's dollars. Which means it's less than a million pounds he's promised.
It's a $1.25 million guarantee.. HOWEVER, although this bout is in the 3 fight deal, I am not entirely certain whether it will be case on this fight as due to it taking place in the UK, Team Khan is effectively solo-promoting, so it's possible the GBP guarantee is for US Based fights only. Also to note, he hasn't always received that sum, for Malignaggi I understand he had to accept less in order to get the fight sorted. Dan Raf has done a piece yesterday on Khan's GBP deal, they are looking at extending it for 2 bouts, removing the april fight from the deal so the terms can be modified
Personally I'll be happy enough if it's Peterson - bona-fide light-welter, active and Ring magazine #8. McLoskey too, but to a lesser degree. If it's Prescott, Witter or Murray and Khan were to win with ease I can see Khan receiving plenty of criticism afterwards for his choice of opponent - Witter (inactive, past it, weight drained), Prescott (never good enough, undeserving), Murray (never fought anyone even approaching world level, never fought anyone of note at light-welter.)
I dont think he will get stick if he fights Prescott. Avenge his only defeat?? That is a valid fight, even if Prescott was never good enough.
Here you go Laz, Rico et al, some interesting reading.. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/chris_mannix/02/04/mora.notes/
Nice one, B4E. Just as I thought, there's no way Khan's getting that $1.5 million, or however much it is, for a fight here in the UK.
Dans Chat today.. Laz (London) Dan, please put this to rest. WHO is Khan fighting? Dan Rafael (12:09 PM) Not done yet. I spoke to Khan about an hour ago. He said there are still several fighters in the running. Among them: Peterson, McCloskey and Murray, he said. I wonder who Laz in London could be? :think:yep
