This will be more of a competitive fight than most think.

Amir Khan may be young, but he's wise beyond his years. “I'd like to pass this message across to young people out there—anything in life is achievable.” he says. Whether you enjoy the sport of boxing or not, Khan's inspirational words ring true—work hard and train hard, and you'll never be down for the count.

    Khan by UD... 8-4.

I expect Peterson to try his best to make it a competitive fight but will come up rather short...The way Khan is improving his over all game...He will get into a rythem and start piecing Peterson (lol) In Khan's last fights, he's showed that he's rasing the bar and he's coming into a fighter that fights smart and patient!

    Hi guys,

As fight week goes by the big night is drawing closer and closer. I’m celebrating another special day this week because it’s my birthday today and I’ve just turned 25 – I know what you all think, I’m getting old! It’s not the first time that I’ve had a birthday just ahead of one of my fights, the same thing happened last year before the Marcos Maidana bout.

To be honest I won’t be celebrating anything just yet. I had a little gathering with my family and Team, too bad I couldn’t enjoy the cake they made for me because I’m making weight now for the weigh-in on Friday.

Making weight for me is easy, I’ve done it so many times now, I know the process and how my body reacts. Getting to 140lb is my goal and I’m well on target, making the weight isn’t a problem.

I had the final press conference today and it went great. I saw Peterson for the first time this week and I think he knows the pressure he’s under to perform in his own city.

The room was packed and we had media from everywhere. All the UK media were here and all the biggest US outlets, even I’m a bit surprised how popular this fight is. The fact that it’s sold out shows how popular it is, there is still so much demand for tickets. I’m focused for this fight and am looking to put on a great display for everyone – I won’t disappoint Washington DC.

We had Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins at the presser today and I was presented with a surprise cake on stage. It was nice of everyone to do that, I had no idea they were planning that!

I don’t want to give away what I’m wearing for Saturday night – but it looks good, one of my favourite kits yet. I think my fans are going to like the gear that I come out with, it’s all custom made, I’ve told Reebok what kind of style I want for this fight. I like being involved in the designing of my kit, it’s just something fun to do away from all the hard training.

This week is going fast and I feel relaxed and ready to do the business on Saturday night. I’ve been mostly chilling in my hotel room with my friends and we have a load of DVDs that we’ve been watching. I’ve been going through my Russell Peters collection at the moment, that guy cracks me up!

I did go for a walk last night near my hotel and saw that Macy’s had a one day sale on, so I picked up a couple of bargains along the way!

It’s important to feel relaxed just ahead of a fight and being with friends and having a laugh is important and helps you do that. I usually get into the fight mentality and zone when I get into the changing rooms because that’s when it’s all business. The most dangerous fighter is the one who is the most calm and relaxed going into the ring and that’s what I’m going to be like when I fight at the Convention Center on Saturday.

This fight is an important one for me because I want to make a statement and push myself into contention for the mega-fights which I’m now on the brink of. I have the weigh-in tomorrow and then that’s me done all the stuff outside the ring. On Saturday night I’ll be at home in the ring and that’s where I feel most comfortable. All I can say is that fight fans need to prepare for fireworks because that’s what I’m aiming to bring them this weekend.

    All the best.

    AK

Peterson is good but very very average: he is not as fast as Khan and especially DOESN'T hit hard enough to disrupt Khan's rhythm. He would have to get very very lucky to win, its kind of a perfect style fight for Khan in my opinion: a guy slower of hand and foot with little power who will occasionally trade but has overall skills and technical proficiency that look good on paper. Should be way easier than McCloskey, who was hard to hit but did not ever want to trade, and easier than Madaina, who was slow as molasses but could turn the fight around with one punch and disrupt the game plan.

This is the perfect kind of opponent for Khan, his speed and power and in and out should carry the day.

My heart is with Peterson on this one. Khan will probably decision him but I am hoping Peterson pulls it off. He needs to rough Khan up get on the inside a lot.
