It would be interesting to see how Khan dealt with an aggressive brawler now that he has settled at 147. Would he still push like in previous fights when he is getting overwhelmed? or would he have a better skill set to deal with it now? Has Porter improved since the Brook fight? How would it go in comparison to Brook v Porter? Thoughts?
Porter could walk through Khans jabs because they carry little power. Khan can win if he stays on his bike & throws that left to the body to slow SP down.
Collazo walked through Khans shots all night, he fought the whole fight with his hands down, Khan hit him with everything but the kitchen sink. Its only a matter of time before someone walks through Khans pit pat punches and times him, like Garcia did.
Porter is much more open than Collazo, Khan's not got a decent Counter with pop to hit him. Khan has brought clinching into his move-set so if Khan can null SP with hugging him when he does get close he should pull off the victory if he sticks to his game-plan(which he did last week to perfection)
you make a good point garcia never respected khans power at all so much so he swinging wild knowing khan would not hurt him
I don't like Porter as a boxer but I think he could really trouble Khan still. Khan is a much better boxer and my opinion is based on the mixture of styles as to why it would be a good match up
Porter gets outboxed mostly on the outside but makes it an ugly fight when he weaves or leaps in to the inside. I'd like to see this fight actually. It won't be the same as Porter-Brook IMO since Khan and Brook are two totally different fighters.
I would expect Khan to win. He would just flurry and clinch like he did against Collazo. Porter could KO him at any moment though so it would be one of those fights where you don't really know what will happen next. It would be a good win for Porter to get him back in the spotlight after his defeat. Khan wouldn't get that much credit for beating Porter as he has just lost to Brook and is quite limited too. It would build up the interest in a Khan vs Brook fight though and add more credence to the idea that Khan is an improved fighter and legit at 147. Interesting fight
Brook was able to absorb some big shots against Porter; the kind of punches that I question whether Khan could handle. I'd be surprised if Porter was able to land similar power shots against Khan and not badly hurt him if not flatten him out altogether.
It would prove very little, actually. If he stops Khan, it doesn't make Porter good. It makes him a big athletic bullier, which is already common knowledge, and it makes Khan perhaps not the "greatest chin in the business (as he claims)" - also common knowledge. If he outboxes Porter comfortably on the outside with fast combos, it makes Khan the fleeter-footed and handed man and superior technician - which is certainly already common knowledge. For neither of them does beating the other prove much of anything regarding their worth at welterweight. UNLESS, somehow Khan stands in the pocket with him, absorbs bombs, and doesn't go down. ...or Porter somehow puts on a boxing clinic. But neither of those is going to happen. :yep Porter will overwhelm him with physicality, size, and roughhousing and club his way to a stoppage - or Khan will circle & jab his face off, easily. Very little grey area to it.
