I don't understand the people who say this fight is irrelevant. It is the only blemish on Khan's record and a memorable one at that. Sometimes a fighter gets lucky, however, at times a fighter has the other's number and a rematch would likely settle which is the case. Khan will never be able to fully run away from his past, until he beats Prescott.
If Khan signed to fight Prescott he'd only be accused of ducking the top fighters in the division. It's a nothing fight. Prescott beat him fair and square, but Khan went away and regrouped, winning a title and beating several good fighters. Prescott was easily dominated by a British title level 130lb'er in Mitchell - who you'll remember was blasted out inside three rounds by Katsidis.
if you look at Prescott's record before the Khan fight you'll see he'd done nothing of significance. The same as after the Khan fight. Bottom line, Khan was caught cold and Prescott looked "hyped" that night,it was the making of Khan tho....too many fighters wana protect that '0', now he can fight without that fear.
Im a Khan fan and I agree with you here. I think in a rematch Khan would school prescott, the 2 of them have gone down 2 completely different parts since 2008. Look at it this way: Prescott KO'd Khan in 1 round, so why bother calling him out!? kinda shows what poor state Prescott's career is in, he's just looking for that payday.
If anything the Prescott loss was a blessing in disguise. It forced Khan to re-evaluate himself as a fighter, and since then he has improved himself ten fold. In terms of conditioning, ability and his choice of competition.
and Hopkins should go find clinton mitchell who handed Bhop his first pro loss, otherwise his there will always be a question mark on his greatness...maybe go get jermain taylor back in the ring too
I don't see Khan being afraid of him seen as he's already beaten someone more dangerous in Maidana - proving many a doubters wrong en route. The problem is that Prescott was made to look terrible by Kevin Mitchell who was then wiped all over the ring by Katsidis. Great, okay he would get to avenge a devastating loss. But, there would be those who would say he is cherry picking an opponent who was **** anyway. I'd like to see the rematch, sure. But I won't bash Khan if he doesn't take it. What has Prescott done recently to warrant a shot? If he gets a very solid win under his belt then by all means lets get it on.
