Khan ain't gonna fight the elite. Come on man. He is a flawed fighter and Freddie knows it. How long will his huggers make excuses for when he avoids the elite time and time and again?
Well thats your opinion and your entitled to it. I don't believe yesterday told me anything about Khan that i didn't already know. I was really hoping for a Paulie win but dropped a considerable amount of money on Khan so my head was clear. It was always an easy match up for him. He defo shouldn't go in with anyone like Maidana yet. He would do better against someone like Tim Bradley... someone with less power
I immediately felt that Khan's statement about wanting to fight the best was scripted. Personally, I want Khan to fight Alexander as this would be the fight that, in my opinion, would provide sound indication of his overall boxing ability. Bradley's a few levels above at the moment and Maidiana, from what I've heard, is a puncher.
Well there you go, it just reminds us of what a great choice of opponent Paulie was. Last night was merely a bout that would determine where Khan is in the process of being ready for the top dogs at 140. Now after witnessing that performance first-hand, it's given Roach and GBP a clearer picture to what the next step should be. They still need to iron out a few mistakes, as I still feel Khan will come up short against the following guys in the following order: 1. Bradley 2. Alexander 3. Maidana But after another 1 or 2 fights and more time under Roach, only then I think he should be given the green light to take on Maidana, then Alexander, before taking out the top man Bradley.
Devon Alexander is the truth at 140. I think he would win a 116-112 decision over Bradley and he would beat the Khan-Maidana winner more easily than Bradley.
Then why would they aim for Maidana or Bradley if they're just "using" fights to impress the simple minded?
Not fact at all. Watch the Paulie-Hatton fight again and you will see it was more Paulie's undoing then anything special Hatton did. He won the first round I think with ease by circling and jabbing, the only round he actually did it. He stopped doing that, and it wasn't even that Hatton was closing the ring off particularly well, he just became flat-footed and wasn't throwing punches and let Hatton pick him apart. Paulie yesterday seemed more motivated and worked harder to win the fight, Khan's win for me is more impressive because of the way in which he picked apart a Paulie who came into the fight on the back off a good win and a Paulie who put the effort in to win.
I think Khans shown that he is in the top level of 140 now. His dominant wins over Kotelnik and Naggi are just as impressive as Alexander's dominant wins over Witter and Urango (although Devon was awesome in that one). In terms of athleticism, speed, power and other physical attributes, Khan is just as good as the 2 Americans, but would probably still lose to both due to inferior skill and chin. Maidana would be obliterated as long as Khan boxed cautious. 6/7th round KO.
What are you talking about? I didn't say they were using 'fights' plural. I said they were using this 'fight' to build up Khan's credibility when realistically it doesn't say anything new about him at all! What they are aiming to do in the future has nothing to do with what i said.
Khans still has the restraining order against Maidana so I doubt he really wants him. He mightve meant he wants Madonna next
