Agreed, though his guts supersedes his brains, which is why he's a desired watch. If this fantasy scenario actually got proposed to him, I'd guess that he'd instantly accept, much to my delight I might add.
people think he is frail at 140 and that his punches sting more then hurt. a few fighters might think different but thats word in the gyms. id like to see him and victor ortiz at a cross roads fight. i think vic will truck him i dont know what to say for khan these days.
Wasn't he rocked or KOed by every decent fighter he faced at 147 or 154 too ? (Judah, Mosley, Pac, Margo, Mayweather)
Is there any evidence that Khan kills himself to make weight at 140? He only weighed 148 against Garcia on the night and 139 at the scales. Against Peterson he was 149 on the night, and in both fights he looked the smaller, physically weaker fighter. We've been here before don't forget. After the Maidana fight, all the talk was that moving to 140 had "fixed" Khan's chin, and that he was a better fighter all around. As soon as he gets knocked out again, making weight becomes an issue, and supposedly at 147 you'll see the real Khan. I can't see him being a factor at 147, unless he picks opponents carefully. Khan at 140 lacks physical strength, punching power and punch resistance. It seems all too convenient that this is down to problems on the scales.
Since before the McCloskey fight, he's been wanting to move up to 147. The Bradley fight in July of 2011 was meant to be his last fight in the division. Then, after losing to Peterson, his move to 147 was delayed once more. And again when Peterson screwed their rematch and he replaced him with Garcia. So this talk of him wanting to move to 147, isn't new. It's been going on for the past 18 months. But I personally think it's a horrible idea. The only thing he'll have up there is his speed. His chin will be up against heavier hitters, and his power that was once respectable at 140, will likely diminish. Dude will get crushed unless he magically transforms into a Sweet Pea.
Bad idea. He is not experienced enough, intelligent enough, and his defense is not good enough to keep bigger men off him. You have to be smart, you have to have little tricks that you pick up with experience that enables you to take the sting off big punches when moving up in weight (recent example, Morales - if he didn't have the mentioned, he may not have lasted against Maidana). Khan doesn't move his head, he doesn't slip punches, his hand placement is not great at all. Stick at 140 and try learn with Virgil. It's all about Khan though. Once he gets one big win under his belt, he will be back to chasing Mayweather...which is disappointing.
