Khan was impressive...Still not ready for Timmy, but beats Maidana.

This is my view on the Maidana-Khan Fight...posted it a long while ago...i still stand by it.

 

Khan did about what I expected. It was obvious since the time the fight was announced there is simply no way PM wins stylistically.

Therefore I was expecting a showcase for Khan, a domination, and for him to look good. He more or less achieved that.

His jab probaby surpassed my expectations even though I knew it was a weapon, in a few of the rounds he actually never missed with it - see round 8. Shocking defence from PM but still an excellent long jab which broke the back of the fight for Khan.

My disapointments were probably rounds 3 - 5 or so, Khan got really sloppy and bumrushed in a few times, I hope he only did that because PM had no power, its not a good habit. Also I was largely disapointed by the accuracy of his power punches. Relative to the amount he threw he wasn't overly accurate with them compared to his jab. He didn't work the body much either which would have been a good change up, if you don't work this guys body knowing he can't hurt you with a counter when you go downstairs I wonder when you ever will.

Still, I give him 7/10 for the performance.

 

Devon Alexander would walk through and Ko Khan so easy Khan would not have a chance in hell.

 

First of all, good win for him, though we all knew Pauli was picked for Khan, though credit still must go to Khan for beating him.

However - think Khan's speed has been a bit overrated you know and I think it's becoming clear that he has telling power/wearing power, but nothing more than that.

Khans guard - now - at times looks like a brief watered down turtle shell AA type guard to me, though he comes in and out of it far more fluently and frequently.

There were lots of unpolished moments in there... moments others may see the chance to exploit.

Still, you've got to give him credit for the win - certainly so.

Bradley? I think Bradley would beat him right now and I can't see that fight happening anytime soon.

 

Room for improvement no doubt from Khan. But a good showing. I'm pretty sure they'll be addressing the mistakes made in the fight back in the gym.

Needs head and body movement.

Needs experience, America has the top qty and toughest Boxing league in the WORLD that's where the best comes to play.KHAN just got a taste of it...

But he has to adapt real quick, coz there are better BOXERS than Malignagi.

 

If he had these guys tomorrow then i would say he would lose to all 6 mentioned or at least 5 of then.
Guzman sd 50/50.
Khan has got all the head and body movement to make it through the ranks, its just he doesnt have the chin and you dont go through a career without gettin hit. Notice last night that not once he lowered his hands cause FredRoach would have murdered him knowing what he knows.

I don't think so. Campbell was so shop worn and static that I could have tee'd off on him...Campbell made Ortiz look a lot better than he actually is.

 

understand wat ur saying but really feel ortiz can take him. khan was a lil marked up from feather-fisted malignaggi and think ortiz can test his chin at 140:good. i do think khan has improved a whole lot from just this fight alone tho:good

Looking back at Khan's U.S debut, it was an eye opener for the U.S boxing writers and boxing experts saying how is Khan going to box the boxer many were expecting Khan to go for the KO, but Khan wanted to give Paulie and the U.S a boxing lesson.

Khan used an high guard and exposed the low mostly U.S style guard with composure, speed, reach, jab, timing.

As they put in the end he outboxed the boxer at his own game, 11 rounds to nothing.

People really under rate Khan's boxing skills and skill set, he knows how to win rounds, yet to see someone even win a hand full rounds on points against him. Under Roach for the last 5 fights it will be hard to find someone even winning a round, it's always nearly shut outs.

I am impressed now on how he follows a gameplan right down to the word, Roach has Khan on a string. There were a few mistakes, like Khan lunging in, these can get ironed out, but what was iron, was Khan's jab.

Iron jab in Paulie's face all night, he could not miss him with it, was a beautiful thing to watch.

I think Khan is ready for anyone at 140, Maidana would get schooled and KO inside 5.

Bradley and Alexander are both shorter and Khan uses his reach and high guard to great effect and now has the best jab at 140, i see him outboxing these guys fighting at range.

 

For me the most impressive element of Khans victory on Saturday was his conditioning...he seemed to be getting stronger as the fight went on
