Khan was impressive...Still not ready for Timmy, but beats Maidana.

Yes he takes his time now, effective workrate, he is trying not to waste punches. Vs Kotelnik he was hitting and lot of gloves and moving around to much. He seems more settled now, and looks better at the 140 weight.

Bumrushed a few times (weird running combinations)

I agree with all the bold negatives, Paulie is on the offset an akward fighter, again i will say Khan was just following orders from Roach to the word, if Roach told him to work the body more than he would of done i feel, he should of because in the 4th Khan got Pualie with a left to the body and Paulie went down, that should of got scored a KD but Khan did lean on him a bit.

If you close the range too much with Paulie he will hold you or move away. Paulie did do a good job of not letting the right hand follow for most of the night.

I think Khan has got the variety but, likes to fight at range, he needs to hook more and go to the body more. He did go to the body vs Kotelnik.

 

It was just strange to me he was off with the right hand. For this reason. If you measure the jab as well as Khan was, and he did, it worked a treat mostly. In one round, I think it was 8, I actually swear he landed every jab. When that happens you expect it to be a measuring tool for the power shots. Maybe not in the first, second or third round, but eventually. He did start to land with more regularity in the latter stages but it still wasn't quite up to scratch IMO. He was just missing by a small margin all the time.

What made it particularly noticeable was as you say he's not much of a hooker. He did land a few uppercuts, but uppercuts are not punches you can throw a ton of. The right hand is his money punch but it was just a little off I feel, like he didn't quite make the adjustment once Paulie reacted to the jab.

I don't see why they didn't aim to work the body. Paulie is a great guy to test that out against. Working the body is dangerous as it can leave you exposed, but Paulie has no power. If you're going to try it against anybody, it better be Paulie.

He definitely needs to expand his repetoire a little and brush up some of the sloppy bumrushing moments and perhaps investigate why he wasn't quite following up the right hand against a more astute mover than Kotelnik and Salita etc. But overall it was a very solid showing as I expected.

 

Bradley is overrated. He's very consistant yes.... but has no 'star' factor to speak of. Khan beats him in speed, power, range and timing. Bradley has no answers to all that. Amir has shown no signs of his chin being vunerable since moving up to light weleter either just for the record.... so Bradley, GO HOME!
