Sure they pay him a lot of cash to do it but surley if he was in Reyes or Everlast his hands would be protected and he might even get a bit more power on his punches.
Incorrect the paddng is different on all makes... Reyes haveless padding on the knuckle and more on the wrist. Everlast have a huge amount of padding at the front of the glove. BBE is very thinly padded all over... :thumbsup
I was thinking the same thing, the reebok gloves are massive and they look like they have too much padding at the front.
Reebok have big gloves. Their early gloves were awful but they've refined the sparring and fighting gloves so they are much better. Not perfect but much better and well priced.
Not being a boxer in any way, this debate interests me, as I never pay too much attention to the gloves........ Dont think Khan needs padded gloves though, he needs a padded chin!!!
I know that its fashionable to slag the bloke off, but can we go one thread without mentioning the poor ****s chin?
I have been watching this guys boxing info shows for a long time on youtube, he is making the same point about the gloves. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysYbDICJ5Bk&feature=channel_page
Is there not a ruling that both fighters have to wear the same branded gloves for each fight and that maybe they thought the Reeboks would give Khan more protection from opponents or am I talking shite?
thers no ruling but in contracts fights will say "you cant use this type of glove" it happened in the De La Hoya vs Mayweather fight, DLH wouldnt let Mayweather, who has notoriously bad hands use the Reyes gloves he wanted, only everlast which would always damage floyds hands (it may be the other way round). The whole fight was suited to De La Hoya, weight, the ring, the judges and the ref. Mayweather deserves allot more credit for the win that he gets.
I know we want to keep this away from chin, but Khan may benefit more from the big gloves in terms of defence and covering up than he would from smaller Reyes ones.
