when i first saw khan fight a few year back i thought he had real power, i know speed is power but i really dont think khan has much power at 140, so what do you all think......

will khans power improve when he goes up to 147???....and also will he keep his fast hands???

    cheers.:good

I think it will, although only if he plants his feet and is a bit more selective with his shots, like the first half of the maidana fight

He'll have speed but not power. He hasn't got power now.

Part of power is technique if he learns to plant his feet he has power when he arm punches and flurries there is nothing on his shots at all. His technique should get better with age and as his body matures and strengthens he should have more power. He'll carry 147lbs just fine with his frame

Khan does have power, he just doesn't chose to/know how to utilise it. Against Malignaggi and the early going against Maidana he showed he had power, feet planted, straight, sharp punches. However, it's just that the way in which he fights the majority of the time creates the illusion that he has nothing in terms of being able to do damage. It's those, aimless, powerless flurries he throws to build up points that makes it appear as though he's a light-hitter, but make no mistake if he learned how to/wanted to he'd be putting away fighters like McCloskey more often.

He does have some power, he isn't feather fisted.

He's borderline featherfisted when he punches like he did against McCloskey, Kotelnik and a lot of the time against Maidana too. He just throws a lot, with speed, to compensate for it. How much further thats going to work I'm not really sure.

I think if he started planting his feet more and sitting down on the shots he'd have increased power.

But if he starts doing that he's more likely to get clipped..... he does seem to have improved punch resistance up at 140 and is (to a point) smarter - but still has the tendency to bumrush his way in without a tight guard.

They'll either match him against guys that can't expose these flaws or he'll have to improve in order to succeed long term.

When you consider him as a welterweight then look at the division ten years ago with Trinidad, prime Mosley and DLH..... LKO1, LKO1, LKO1 :yikes

His shots didn't seem to have much effect on Saturday, his power may improve with the step up

he might get found out but throwing a lot with little on them didnt hurt calzaghe at all, khans got power but he doesnt want to risk getting tagged to much so he flurries then moves. not rocket science

Calzaghe was a southpaw with unorthodox movement, a decent chin and a good Ring I.Q.

He doesnt have that much power. His record is a bit deceiving too in the sense that most of his stoppages have come from an unanswered flurry of punches etc and not a concussive punch.
