Murder may be a bit extreme, but I'd definitely favor him at this point. Marquez showed alot of wear in his last three fights. At 135 he looked good but very vulnerable, he might still have some pop but at 140 I'd doubt it. He should stay away from Khan now, take a tuneup against a ranked guy see if he's got anything to give at the weight.

My heart would be with Marquez but i think this matchup is perfect for Khan. Although i hope im proven wrong. (if it happens)

I am one of the biggest JMM fans here and i kind of agree with the OP. Khan is all wrong for JMM and is really not worth it for JMM to fight Khan.
I would rather see JMM fight Morales in his comeback.

Khan just has way too many advantages over JMM. Speed power height and reach.
Although JMM will always be game i dont think he has a shot at beating Khan.
But who knows maybe Khan does have a glass chin and JMM takes him out.

I think Khan has JMM by UD at this point.
JMM still has the ability to put Khan on his ass though.
It will be interesting to see how Khan handles it when JMM takes him into the trenches which will inevatably happen at points.

JMM was good enough for P4P No.2 Floyd in his last fight, so he is good enough for young Khan.

    Damm too many haters.

Nothing to do with hate, JMM just can't handle the weight. 135 was a stretch, and 140 at and advanced age is really pushing it for me. Besides, why would Khan want to keep fighting these old legends when he has a packed division???

Marquez has enough left to own Khan.

Regardless of how fast Khan is, or how small and old JMM is, the very last style I would want to put Khan in the ring with right now if I was his management (or Khan himself) would be a master counterpuncher. At this stage of his development, Khan is simply too predictable and linear. He showed vast improvement with Kotelnik and Salita, but 1) they weren't really a threat to him, as Kotelnik didn't have the power to threaten him and Salita wasn't in his class, and 2) Khan's style and movements are there to be countered.

Right now, Khan is consistently, almost robotically following a pattern: step straight in, throw a 1-2, (maybe add another jab or two for safety) step straight back out, step to the side, repeat. The main time Khan does something different is if he thinks he has you in trouble, (then he'll throw a multi-punch barrage instead of a 1-2 before stepping out) or if you're determined to advance, in which case Khan will jab and circle. (And too often he's flicking with that jab too).

Those patterns are entirely too easy to guess for a top notch counterpuncher. Khan may be able to overwhelm JMM with speed, but it bears noting that Pacquiao could only briefly overwhelm JMM with pure speed, and he had to turn it up to 100% to do it. Khan would be banking on the proposition that he can overwhelm Marquez with speed for the whole fight, and that at a weight class above 135 Khan's power will be too much for JMM.

Personally, I think it's a big gamble. Having Roach in the corner is a major help, but every time time Khan steps in to JMM and goes to throw like he does over and over here to Kotelnik:

JMM will be waiting for him with a trap and will have something like this set up:

If this fight goes through, I think it'll be tougher than Khan's promoters or his fans might think.

JMM is a 130lb fighter. 135 was a stretch. 140 is ridiculous. End of story. He's only fighting Khan for the big payday.
