But if it does happen, the excuses will come. I want to see khan but on a very defensive display, sharp shooting kotelnik from range and using footwork. Im also quite confident that freddie roach knows what hes doing and will have a good gameplan for khan.
I don't agree with Khan getting this shot in the first place, he's done nothing to merit it whatsoever, the fact that it's the wba and the fact that King was talking about wanting to be involved with him makes me wonder. In any case, Khan isn't a disgrace to boxing, I don't like him myself but it's fairer to say that boxing is a disgrace, he's just doing what he does, the fact that he's getting opportunities which he hasn't earned speaks more about how the sport is mismanaged than it does about him.
This is basically a fight I need to see to tell anything about how it will look like. Kotelniks last fight was hard, and he was rattled a bit in between, although winning fair (but close, very close). Khan will lose by KO badly when he rushes in throwing windmills like there is no tomorrow, like he did vs. Prescott to "impress" that one. Prescott tried like 4-5 times to get Khans timing, finally got it, and landed his counter overhand over Khans, fight over. Kotelnik knows that, so he may have been preparing to do it again as Plan B when he loses too many rounds. Kotelnik is a textbook fighter, well-schooled, but not too fast or too strong. Fight may go either way, also wide, looking "easy" for the winner.
I think khans will be examined on his defence more then his chin in this fight, should be a good solid test of what hes learnt under freddie roach's tutillage.
