lol, fair enough. Still with all Khan's whining you have to agree he was proven right in the long run (ala Peterson) I really don't see what all the hype is about regarding Kell Brook. I mean he has pretty heavy hands but that's it. He still hasn't beaten a fighter on the level of say Kotelnik, and it appears that if you can stand up to his power early, you almost have him beat.
I honestly believe that if Khan beats Garcia, then Floyd will feel the Khan fight is perfect for him (yummy:happy) I thought tonight was an eliminator, but Eddie Hearn says there could be a "final" eliminator against that Saldivia guy,so if Eddie thought Brook was ready,I doubt he'd push for another eliminator when Matchroom has the clout to push for a title fight. Don't think Eddie was a happy bunny tonight.:scaredas:
Thats my point Kell, hearn, Sky can say what they want if the moneys not there from the big doggs he's not fighting.
Khan needs to forget about Floyd until he is established at welter. If I was advising him I would have him stay at LWW for a while longer.
Yep, Khan has fought the better fighters and has the tougher journey. With Brook its the fact that he's British and has that history with Khan. He can punch which is a good thing and shows a variety of different skills however apart from that the expectations are far too high at the moment. I still feel he has done pretty well as he is still undefeated and fought some pretty decent names. This fight if anything came at just the right time, we all know what happened with Mike Jones who to be honest was in the EXACT same position as Brook and got caught out. The difference with Brook is that he survived his, 'Bailey' moment which will turn out being a good thing for him as his undefeated record is intact and he can learn from where he went wrong in a fight he still won.
You need to bear in mind that if Floyd tells Schaefer he wants Khan,Khan's advisors will be told to tell Khan to take the fight.Add to that Khan is still a bit unproven in the US,so if he ever gets offered Floyd,he needs to take it,just like 99% of FMJ's possible opponents. Eddie was clearly unhappy about more than just the performance.I got the feeling Kell's got a touch of "superstar syndrome" and hasn't been a good boy lately. You're right about time, but Eddie might want to punish Kell here, whilst at the same time, prolonging the golden goose.
I agree. In terms of bigger fights and bigger paydays, this was a lose situation for Brook. However in terms of the development of his abilities this was a great fight. The best way to improve is to work on your weaknesses and Brook certainly had a few of them tonight. It's funny how much changes after one fight, if Brook becomes world champion next fight by knockout, I'm sure the general opinion will change. It's sad because Brook was really hyped, so this sort of fight will damage him for all the wrong reasons. If Lara was hyped up like Brook, after the Molina fight people would never regard him as a 'dangerous' opponent, however because he didn't have that much of a following back then, it didn't really damage his career, which to be honest is the way it should be. Shame it's not the same for higher profile fighters.
I dunno man, I think Bailey hits a lot harder than Carson. Brook is a year or two older than Khan, and a performance like this brings up a lot of warning signs for me.
I've always thought Kell had the right style to beat Khan mate, especially since Amir's not really carrying his power up,but like you, tonight made me have a rethink.Jones had all the lateral movement of a spirit level, yet caught Kell time after time.Amir has flaws aplenty but he also has angles.Kell has had two plodders take him all the way and it's not looking good IMO. I think he's been acting up.That was a declaration from Eddie tonight.
That's true, I feel it's more about overcoming the situation rather than who the opponent was. Wikipedia tells me Brook is a few months older We shall see how this pans out.
