What if Khan had hired Ronnie Shields as his trainer after losing to Prescott? Shields specializes in defense, which is one of Khan's main weaknesses.

You can't train a Chin. It wouldn't matter.

Honestly, his being so offensively focused likely helped shield his chin more than if he lowered activity/shelled more/trained more on head movement/etc.

For example, it's a small miracle he survived and won the Maidana fight. Had he been in that fight focusing on being defensive to a much larger degree, I actually think it ends much worse for him.

Do remember that Cortez saved him in that fight.

The point deduction for the elbow swing alone changed it from a would be Draw to a Khan win on my scorecard.

Hell I think he should have stayed with Roach.. I don't think Roach is the best trainer in boxing or anything either.. but thinking of their overall record together and the majority of Khans performances were impressive with him.

All I've seen so far from Virgil is that he is trying to make Khan into something he just is not..

Khan is semi-retired. Full of admiration for his career up to and including his loss to Garcia, highly critical of his dedication and development since that loss. Wouldn't matter who is training Khan now, his heart is not in it any more and he's merely in the game for big pay days. Could have been so much more if he'd committed to the sport.

Probably this. Khan doesn't listen, he eventually reverts to his old ways and bam gets KO'd.
