Khan would expect to get alot more than £150,000 for a fight. He is selling 15,000 tickets and getting the fight on Primetime TV. He is taking half a mil for his next figth easy.

There seems to be a bit of harsh words for Khan on this thread, lets be honest i cant see Khan losing against thaxton, but surely winning the British Title is a must for any boxer, especially at the age Khan is at, plenty of time to try and win the World Titles he wants.

He gets a lot of stick cause he has a big mouth, and then backs out of a fight, what a dong. Its ok for people to say that it's his promotor that doesnt want the fight, but, if Khan wants to desperatly shut Thaxtons mouth, like he keeps on saying, he would tell Warren that he wants the fight to prove a point. The guy just looks like a ***** now:lol:  Grade "A" Tosser. I've never disliked a british boxer as much as him, all because of his arrogant big mouth.

I wonder how much of it is Khan and how much the PR machine writing things and telling him what to say. Every time Ive met Khan in the gym he's been really down to earth, and (for me) surprisingly quiet. I took my dad last time who commented "f****hell that young lad on the target pads looks pretty good" It was only as he said "good" that he realised it was Amir who'd been in the gym for a good 30 mins, just unoticable, cracks on with his own training.

Khan will fight Thaxton, the fight will mean alot more in 3 months time as there will be real tension. they can advertise it on two guys that hate each other, Khans first war.

I cant see anything other than Khan fighting for the WBO a couple of days prior to the date Naz won his title. Fewkes Murray should eb upgraded to a brit title eliminator.

    Agreed.

As to Ron UK asking if Kristjansen's better. His only fight in the last thirteen months is a split decision win in a six rounder. I would be very interested to know when he got elevated to #2 in the WBO rankings. I suspect it is a similar situation to Gunn and Azzaoui becoming top 15 in the WBO on the day they were announced to fight Enzo.

Saw his interview about Thaxton fight all apart, he seems ok to me.
    http://www.frankwarren.tv/drill/News/Articles/2008/01/08/video-amir-khan-interview-5.html

Thaxton went out saying he'd fight for free. Warren offered him career high pay and team Thaxton dont take the offer. So Khan it seems has decided to move on to bigger things.

Now that is being pedantic - Khan's team, camp, promoter - whatever way you look at it Khan opted out of the fight by allowing himself to be withdrawn from the purse bids.

Odd you are so ready to criticise Thaxton for not taking Warren's offer when we don't even know the ins and outs of it yet.

Perhaps SN aren't the easiest operators to do business with outside of the official framework? Seem to recall that the promotional outfit you write for found that to be the case when they apparently succeeded in getting one of the VIP fighters withdrawn from a Title Eliminator recently - not to mention the other consequences should he also end up getting suspended for challenging for the Title for a year and fined as has been suggested.

Different scenario I know but same promoters you appear to be defending over Khan. Just think maybe we should let the facts unfold a little more before being too critical of Thaxton for not accepting an 'unknown' offer.

Just for the record I've never suggested Khan is intimidated by Thaxton. I happen to think Khan would probably beat him but it is still a fight I'd like to see and I do think Thaxton poses a risk compared to the likes of Scott Lawton, no disrespect.

Perhaps they advise him how to drive as well?

I think Khan wants the fight. I think its Warren who is ****ing it up. This fight should be Thaxton. It's a time delaying fight that is being masquerading as something meaningful i.e. opponent with good record, title eliminator, world contender etc

none of this is really true in practice.

What does that have to do with his attitude towards other fighters, are driving abilities and personal attitudes / personalities now connected? Lewis hamilton must be a right tw@ then, as must Alex Fergusson and Stephen Fry too.

Lets remember Eubank, Benn and Bruno all bypassed the British title. No one really holds it against them.

Actually I think his driving ability (or lack of) and attitude leave a lot to be desired at times.

Perhaps he should be a little less careless with both.
