As mentioned yesterday, Sports Network are notoriously difficult to do business with. I can imagine theres a difference in a 50/50 split within purse bids, and a 50/50 split in pay made by sports network outside purse bids, dunno, options, sponsorship rights or something, maybe?

Nevermind. Khan Kristiansen to look forward to then hopefuly Khan Kastidis. Also, I thgink Thaxton Murray would be a cracking fight, so hopefuly that'll get made.

I give up, theres no point trying to rationalise things and second guess promoters because bizzare things happen. There is without doubt a very murky underbelly to boxing that only a priveledged few are party to, isnt there.

In an article on secondsout.com Jon Thaxton admits he has been a bit down since Khan pulled out of their proposed bout as he thought that come Jan 9th he'd have a deal, target and date.

Thaxton says its a shame for him, the BBBofC and most of all the british public. He confirmed his promoter Hennessy was going to put in a big bid.

Of Khan he says he is very talented but it would be nice to see him in with someone who won't crack under pressure and will give him a test.

Despite his frustration Thaxton hopes the fight can still happen and says Hennessy wants to make Khan another offer to try and save the fight.

Thaxton refutes claims Warren made him a personal offer that would have given him a career best purse and would have been more beneficial to him than going to purse bids. He says Warren didn't even make him an official offer - he did it through John Ingle, not the proper channels and its about doing things properly.

Says they decided to go to purse bids so that everybody got a fair crack but SN weren't willing to bid and Khan was pulled out. Why? He says he will let people draw their own conclusions.

The Telegraph website has reported that Khan has received an offer of £400,000 to fight Thaxton on home ground (Bolton Arena) on April 5th.

With regard to Hamed - lets hope Khan can avoid the self indulgence that contributed to ruining an exceptional fighter in the end.

He wishes! You might want to re-examine your evaluation of Hamed: it wasn't until he met Barrera that he was shown up, well over five years into his title fight career.

I FOLLOWED HAMED LIKE I FOLLOW HATTON NOW - SO TELL ME WHO HAD HAMED REALLY BEAT UNTIL HE MET BARRERA - FUKIN NO ONES - IT WAS JUST ANOTHER F.W GETTING IN ALL THE RICHES FROM HIS BOXERS FIGHTING CRAP OPPONENTS HAMED WAS IN THE BEST SHAPE FOR THAT BARRERA FIGHT & GOT TOTALLY SHOWN UP BY A CLASS FIGHER!! AS I SAID EARLIER THAT KHAN IS JUST ANOTHER HAMED - LOOK AT THE OLYMPICS FO FUK SAKE - HE BOUGHT HOME SILVER - WHERE WAS THE FUKIN GOLD - I TELL YOU TO A CUBAN WHO WAS A BETTER FIGHTER !!

You're right a Cuban did beat him for the gold medal, but Khan beat him in a rematch a few months later that wasn't fixed.

    No need to shout.

Just because you don't know anything about them it doesn't mean they're nobodies. Before Hamed there weren't many big name/money fighters in the lower weights.

..as for Hamed being in "THE BEST SHAPE" for the Barrera fight, you should watch the "Little Prince Big Fight" documentary.

I agree totally, Khan is a decent fighter, certainly not world class. Any of the Diaz clan, Casamayor or Katsidis would take him apart. He has pretty good power but his defence is very shoddy and he would take a beating by any of the above mentioned.

Apart from exaggerating the poor quality of Hamed's opposition before Barrera (Robinson, Kelley and some others were quality opponents) I have to agree with your points in this post. That doesn't equal, though, that Hamed failed when he first fought for a title. Hamed's key problem in his career was setting expectations too high and not having the talent to back it up; in that respect, he's the same as Khan.

Believe me- Khan will NOT achieve half as much as Hamed. He might win a few fights, but he'll never beat a Robinson or even a Kelley.

The only thing Khan has in common with Naz is they're both arseholes on the road. Talent wise Hamed was far better.
