I know the forum is full of "khan has a glass jaw and will get KO'd in 60 seconds" posters..... However I genuinely think Khan will see the final bell. I think he knows he can't get caught and he has to fight the perfect fight for 36 mins in order to stand a good chance. Not only is the weight advantage in canelos favour, but even if the fight does go 12 I just can't see how he would win a decision in Vegas against Goldenboys.... Well, golden boy. We saw a horrible scoring from the judges last night, and it wouldn't surprise me if Khan was the victim of this next week also. Sure, there's every chance of Khan getting caught hard and hitting the deck, but I think he'll be putting on a much better performance than most people are anticipating. I just hope, those same people giving him s**t before the fight for having a glass jaw, will come out and applaud him if he was to last the distance win or lose. Great fight to look forward to though either way
I agree Canelo aint knocking Khan out becaus Khan will keep him off balance and prevent him from planting his feet. As for the judges in Vegas, who has more power Al Haymon or Golden boy? I think Al Haymon will have Khan covered in this aspect.
Canelo isn't that great of a power puncher. He hit Cotto with the kitchen sink and barely shifted him. Khan might survive, but he's definitely going to get hurt at some point.
To be fair to Cotto, he's been hurt and dropped plenty in his career but he's never been knocked out. His stoppages have been from a sickening accumulation. He's not iron chinned but he is very durable. Khan on the other hand can be blown away. Khan's big worry here for me is his lack of power. Whilst working on his defence his team have got him fighting in and out, quick raiding tactics with shoe shine punches. If there's no threat to Canelo, and if he's smart enough he'll be looking to throw when khan's letting them go at him. Same time punching ala Garcia
Like it's been said, Khan has to fight the perfect fight to win. Though unlikely I hope he pulls off the win, but he's done nothing to suggest he's capable of the level of performance required in the 5 1/2 years since he beat Maidana. Lets hope it's an entertaining fight.
I cant see how Khan wins this fight. Use his speed and stay out of range? There is always a time in Khan fights where he stays inside for too long and is liable to get clipped. If Canelo clips him, it will be curtains. Also, I can't see Khan having anywhere near enough pop in his punches to keep Canelo off him. Its not a case of if, its a case of when Canelo gets to him.
Referee will be important, Khan is perceived to have a brittle chin and also he will be perceived to be the lighter man coming from welterweight. So if Khan is tagged and in a little bit of trouble, rattled or rocking will the referee "save" Khan and jump in early?
Would love for Khan to win but cant see anything other than Canelo knocking him out once Khan slows down, that for me will be 4-5 rounds.
Yes Khan is not fast enough with his feet, or anywhere near elusive enough as a boxer to stay away for 2 rounds let alone 12. Even when he beat Maidana he was getting caught flush, and often down the stretch. In that fight he was just able to absorb the shots and cruise through to win on points. Much of that finale was him running backwards and just staying away, not a composed defensive performance at all:deal Throughout his career against most opponents, when he gets caught he is going down. His chin just does not hold up- and Canelo is cracking that chin often in this fight. There have been other times when he gets caught flush and the stretcher is called into the ring. That chin is fine porcelin, Sir:deal
Some good points here. Khan has terrific speed but theres nothing behind them they do serve a purpose but im struggling to see how they (fast hands without power) will keep cinnamen off him all night. Id realy like to see khan win this but hes up against it here.
