Khan is very hitable, Barrera managed it a few times and apparently he is old and over the hill. Khan has no power because he is already moving out as he throws them. Valero's only got to catch him once and it will be game over. Where as Khan has to keep him away the entire fight. As fast as Khan is I can't see that happening.
Ive seen every single one of Khans fights since he entered the olympics. The guy is very talented but that chin is very susceptible...he got KD by journeymens, got wobbled by a glancing blow from a past it blind MAB. Valero a true LW puncher will put his lights out should he land just 1 punch...and he will.
this one would be a 50/50 fight for me.....Valero's quick, a soutpaw, no skills (outside of sparring), but KO power and Khan has great speed, good skills, no chin, and a size advantage i'm not so sure how good Valero's chin is either, but uhh....this would be interesting basically the 1st shot Valero lands would put Khan to sleep, but Khans so fast and disciplined these days that Valero might never find him, especially considering his caveman level skillset i'd love to c it, i could see Khan getting KTFO'd or c Khan making very look domestic level and get stopped on cuts, either way it would be interesting to watch, and both have a few things to prove in the LW division, if they both get past they next opponents, i'd like to know that this fight is an option
Love it how before the MAB fight everyone was saying even if a 50% MAB turns up he will be too much for young Khan, now everyone says he is past it lol
It would be an interesting fight for sure. If the ref allows Valero to work on the inside, and warns Khan for trying to continually tie him up, then Valero will KO him. However, if Khan stays on his toes, zips in and out, and throws his shoeshine combos, while clinching Valero when he gets too close, then he could pull out a decision. Can't see Khan KO'ing Valero, and am unsure whether Valero could outpoint Khan (I suppose its possible if he gets enough kd's without Khan getting completely sparked out). Right now I'd probably back Valero for a mid-rounds KO.
He was a 50% MAB who was 50% blind for most of the fight. Khan done what he had to and all that **** but do you really think he proved anything in that fight?
Yes he did not choke on the big stage, this was a make or break fight for him. Cut or no cut Khan had MAB's number, the key was to use his speed , height, feet, and improve his defence, which in all areas he improved for me. Khan trained for a 2 eye MAB, shame about the cut but it was not Khan's fault.
Khan cant break an egg. He isnt going to beat down anyone. Maybe run=like=a=rabbitt and steal a decision.
If MAB had pulled out on the day of the fight because he was sick it wouldn't have been Khan's fault but wouldn't have proved anything either. I don't think it was ever likely that Khan was going to freeze. He's been in the public eye since he was 17, MAB might have been the biggest name he's fought but he wasn't exactly picked from obscurity to fight him. I think Khans new and improved defense is a bit of a myth. He was trying to keep his gloves high against Prescott but got caught when he left the opening. Barrera was never going to measure up Khan's chin with that cut and his left eye closed. For my money, whether Khan has really improved remains unknown. Even apart from that, I don't think the style he deployed against Barrera would work against a higher volume puncher. When Barrera was looking to attack Khan was keeping his gloves up and throwing nothing back. I think he'd lose a lot of rounds that way against a younger, busier fighter. Barrera was never likely to be busier than Khan but he really couldn't do anything with his vision impaired. I suppose only time will tell which of us is right.
Warren won't put Khan in with Valero, at least not until Valero builds a rep beyond the hardcore fanbase.

It's a fair point about the cooler head and sticking to the gameplan. I guess that kind of thing is bound to improve with age and experience even without a trainer like Roach. Training with Pac is bound to do him some good too. He probably is more of a natural Light-Welter than Lightweight as well but I'm not sure moving up will help his punch resistance any given you expect the bigger guys to hit harder as well as for Khan to be stronger. I think the reaction to the MAB fight went too extreme both ways. A lot of people were pissed off after the fight and and have maybe been a bit harsh on Khan but a lot of people have also built up the win too much. If you looked at it before the fight you would have said it would be a better win for Khan than it turned out to be because of the cut. That's not to say he wouldn't have won without it or that it's his fault it turned out that way just that it does leave questions unanswered.
