I was thinking this too watching last night. Murray is effective at what he does but he's no Marciano. I see Khan totally outboxing him over the distance and being way too elusive. Although he won I was pretty disappointed in Murray's performance last night and as someone posted before when you watch it back the majority of his shots were hitting lawton's gloves and arms. Not that impressed tbh

At lightweight: Khan a weight drainer, stars fast, uses lots of movement and speed. This can cause Murray big problems. It also makes Khan blow by the middle rounds, where Murray can further slow him down with brutal body shots.

There's no way of knowing who would win. Both are quality lads. Hard to know how either will adapt to the other's style and physical strengths. You just don't know how either will respond, how either will handle the adversity.

Lazy thinking just to pick the fast, mobile guy especially if you ignore the skills of the more aggressive, physically stronger fighter.

Khan has 1 of Britain's most Brittle chins I've seen, along with Haye, but some excellent speed/movement. Murray has an injury worry, where he marks up, but very sturdy, strong, and solid.

Murray v Kevin Mitchell would be a classic. But Khan and Mitchell have world title shots, so Murray - who I'd pick to beat both, in hard fights - is off their radar.

no point is using the jab. they were in a little ring, lawton was hurt early and covering up on the ropes. on the ropes with nowhere really to go. in the mcallister bout, lee was more elusive, got some distance between he and murray. murray jabbed his way in, a strong offensive jab, to set up the body shots.

murray was basically having to hit arms for much of last night, because of how badly he'd hurt lawton in the 1st round.

i would rather see him fight a rangy lawton-style fighter in a bigger ring, where murray has to cut down the ring, jab his way in, use a varied attack. the little ring gives him an advantage and helps make an earlier stoppage...but if he was fighting khan it'd be in a big ring, so he'd surely have to get used to different circumstances like that

anyway, all this about khan's matured style and speed - couple of rds vs ***an, a few rds vs an injured barrera - doesn't tell us so much. i won't believe in khan til he does what haye did and SURVIVE a hard fight (haye-fragomeni comes to mind). amir is always a stoppage risk, a massive risk of being KO'd, so i'd like to see if he can box well after 6 rds.

I think Khan would outclass Murray but I don't think he'd 'kill' him. When analysing the prospect of them fighting you have two Khan's to consider: pre and post Prescott. I must admit, since Roach has got hold of him we've seen glimpses of something very impressive indeed. Pre-Prescott and I had Murray winning. Now, I think Khan would stay on the outside and wear Murray down with his speed and intensity. I think Murray has got what it takes to beat Thaxton and capture the European cown, but that's it- I think he'll be found out at world level. Brilliant to watch though.

Khan would batter Murray. He's simply too good and a class above. Lawton gave Murray trouble at times with his superior boxing ability, Khan would find sharper, quicker combinations and move around more. Murray wouldn't even be able to get inside.

Khans a different class now. Has to be said I don't see this fight ever happening. murray needs to forget about Khan and move in his own direction. Thaxton then a Euro title and then maybe a world title fight of some description.

I was chatting to the boxing news reporter yesterday asking him when Willie limond was going to get his shot. Limond vs Castle for the vacant title, it needs to be made.

  7. Khan would easily beat Murray,

Khan is in another league, I see nothing that impresses me in Murray and his defense Khan wouldn't be able to miss, and Murray wouldn't know what hit him

If the thread title did happen we would lose 2 boxers. one would be "killed" and the other locked up. Simple.

i think khan would beat murray, he's too quick and accurate. I still think that with the right training that Khan could go a long way, he might have a bad chin but there is no doubting that he has skill and potential. Didnt RJJ always have a suspect chin?

When i mean use the jab i mean as in use the jab to force fighter back and pick shots,John steams in and against fighters like Lawton it works but i always look at the bigger picture and not doing the right things and getting wins by fighting this way can become a habit and when the jab is needed he may neglect it if you see what i mean.

Whilst watching the fight last night I was thinking how Khan would deal with Murray. He certainly wouldn't sit on the ropes asking to be hit.

If we take the glass jaw out of it for a moment, Khan would pick Murray to pieces. The question is, can he stop Murray from landing?

I also think Khan would kill Murray. I don't think Murray is strong or powerful enough to give Khan too many problems, he would most likely take way too many shots to have much left in him after a few rounds in my opinion.

Speed kills but Gomez v Khan pt 2 could be interesting.

Murray is doing well clearing out the british comp.
