Khan was shook but he was still throwing punches. Although that was on instinct. But I agree to an extent, maybe the towel should have been thrown in or the fight stopped when he went back to his corner in round 3. Khan is soaking up alot of punishment for someone his age...

He's got to stop making those silly noises when he throws punches as well. It just all adds to him looking even more like an excitable kid in there and an amateur.

He's turned out exactly like alot of us on this forum thought a few years ago. Completely one-dimensional with only one gear. Every shot he throws is telegraphed so there's no element of surprise. They always say it's the shot you can't see that hurts the most and Khan's opponents know exactly what combinations he's going to throw the vast majority of the time so they can prepare for them and then begin to throw counters half way through them.

He's just an incredibly dim individual and it comes out in his boxing.

it's most certainly not over for Khan. That's simply ridiculous to summise. He's been fighting at the top level for the last couple of years and bound to pick up a defeat or two. He's no Mayweather. What Khan ought to be doing in the next few days is seriously thinking about a change of trainers. He is a supremely talented individual that unfortunately has a little too much bravado and a rather weak chin.

For ****s sake, Khan. Give Manny Steward a ring.

    Whats the point?

Khan doesn't listen to instructions anyway, he just wants to slug away with his featherfists and glass jaw.

The biggest problem for me is the fact that he enter 'fighter mode' when he is hurt.

When the plan gets thrown out, he goes into a macho mentallity.

To quote Joe Louis: "Everyone has a plan, until they get hurt."

He needs to be careful, his brain is taking a lot of punishment.

Considering he has oodles more natural talent than Hatton ever did, there's no question who has had the more impressive career. Reminds you how good Ricky was only losing to the elite. (he should definitely stay retired though).
As for a long, long road back for Khan - boxing fans have v short memories, one big win and he'll be back in the mix again.

    Does he really though?

    Khan is very fast.

His punch variation is rubbish. His punch selection is rubbish. He's got no brain once he's hurt. His punches lack power. He doesn't move his head. He doesn't move out of the way after punching. His footwork is sloppy. He has a terrible chin.

His 'natural talent' is just his speed really, he's still a novice in some very key areas.

Hatton was a far more well rounded fighter.

I agree Hatton was a more well rounded and successful fighter, that was my point. He absolutely maximised his assets and worked hard to address his weaknesses. Khan relies on his natural gifts and seems to just ignore his weaknesses, which just doesn't work at the top level. That's why he still makes the same mistakes he was doing years ago. He genuinely thinks he's a p4p great and he hasn't learnt from his losses.

im no Khan fan by any stretch of the imagination. But i think one thing thats clear to me, is how he really needs to leave Roach.

you cant have a training camp where you have to follow your trainers #1 fighter to the phillipines to get trained, then half way through he ****s off to help another fighter. He's not getting enough attention.

saying that. I still dont think Khan can mix it at ELITE WORLD LEVEL.

at elite world level you cant choose your fights carefully, you must fight the bangers, the super boxers, the iron chinned fellas, and unfortunetly for Khan, when his fights arent carefully selected, he comes up short.

plus he doesnt have single punch knockout power, at elite world level thats nearly a neccessity.

his chin is far too suspect as well. I dont worry too much when fighters go down, im of the thinking that all fighters can get dropped, its just how quickly they can recover. Khan gets hit, but then stays hit, thats his biggest problem, his punch recovery is non existent.

he needs a rebuilding job now. If i was him id come back to England, take some time off, and work back up through european level. He'll make a few bob along the way, and hopefully (for him) he'll get another crack at a world title in the future

He'll go straight back to fighting for world titles, maybe 1 warm-up fight.

Another problem he has is that fighters don't respect his power, they just come forward walking through his punches. They won't put him in with a puncher again for a while. M Hatton or Paulie M is next.
