Honestly, it truly is. It's remarkable - I've NEVER seen a chin that offers so little resistance. Every single shot Prescott landed, even those that barely connected, had Amir in trouble. As if the Limond & Gomez fights were not proof enough, he simply has no chin. And let's face it, we don't even know if Prescott is anything other than a moderately decent puncher at lightweight! Sure, he has a good KO ratio but when one examines his previous opponents, there is simply no one of proven quality. You can call the punches that disposed of Amir Khan 'monstrous' if you like, but the truth of the matter is that Willie Limond, who I don't think would ever try to tell you that he's anything but a light hitter even at featherweight, had Khan out on his feet. Gomez - a shot to smithereens super featherweight - also floored and hurt him. I won't even mention Drilzane. The evidence is irrefutable. And I'll say now that I'm not a 'Khan hater'. I'd have liked to see him do well, and I think his perceived 'arrogance' is mild and unobjectionable when it's taken into account that he's a 21 year old who has been told he has the world at his feet since he was 17. He doesn't strike me as a bad kid, but, once again, his chin is truly remarkable. It's the type that doesn't come around that often - I thought, perhaps, that he might improve his punch resistance somewhat in time, just as Manny Pacquiao - unlike in his younger days - no longer falls unconcious for three hours if you brush him with a body shot, I felt that Khan might be able to avoid flopping to the canvas at the perceived menace of a barely connecting jab. But Saturday's bout was so conclusive, so remarkable to me that I sincerely doubt that could ever be the case. I wish Amir Khan well in future bouts. But his chin is truly remarkable, and my natural instinct is to grin - against my will - whenever I see footage of that fight.
I agree. It has to be one of the worst chins I have ever seen. It's a tragedy really, God has given Khan loads of talent and only one weakness, but one which will prevent him from ever being a world class fighter. If he ever gets into the ring with a Pacman / Hatton / Juan Diaz, he can easily get killed. Well, at least he won a silver medal at the Olympics. Not many people have such a thing in their home collection.
Anyone who knows of the career of Willie Limond knows that if he can knock Khan down, then a Pacquiao or a Diaz or a Katsidis or a Casamayor or a Guzman or a Campbell or a Marquez would brutalize him. Khan has talent and ability, but his lack of punch resistance is bizarre.
No way. The type of damage that seriously hurts or kills a fighter is accumulation. His chin would actually save him from any catastrophic damage, barring something unforeseeable like getting knocked out of the ring and hitting his head on something.
I'd also like to mention Craig Watson who hurt and floored Khan VERY heavily in the amateurs - As a pro he has only four stoppage wins from 13 contests!
Prescott already killed amir khan no need to talk about world class fighters ! 51seconds was quick enough !
In most cases - you are right. But there have been fighters who died knockouts, even from one punch. Sugar Ray Robinson once killed someone with one punch. I'll give you another example: If Roy Jones stayed at heavyweight and got hit by a Sam Peter with the same shot Glen Johnson hit him and had him flat on the back for 10 minutes, he probably would have died. When someone's chin is as bas as Khan's is, he is risking his life. Suppose Pacman hits Khan clean on the chin, Khan is out on his feet but doesn't go down, and Pacman gets to swing twice more on his chin. I'm sure that a Pacman kind of fighter can kill him, or **** up his brain badly, under certain circumstances.
Khan doesn't have a strong enough chin to actually allow him to get a beating. Apparently he had ideas on moving up through the divisions to end up at welterweight - imagine him in with Margarito, bearing in mind the fact that he cannot fight on the inside for toffee!
If his chin is so bad then how would he be on his feet. Again, this is actually a far more likely scenario for someone who can take a shot.
