Khan's defence is his biggest flaw - not his chin

His defence tonight was atrocious, he kept doing the Pacman, "i'll stand still with my hands up and let this guy uppercut the **** out of me". The **** is Roach thinking? The man can't teach defence.

Still, great performance from both men, but Khan is lightyears away from Mayweather with his cheese-grater defence.

Agreed. The defense needs more work. I think this whole talk of Mayweather is premature as is. He needs 2-3 fights more at 140 and needs to learn how to fight under pressure. But great showing for tonight by Khan.

I was thinking Khan needs a new trainer while I was watching the fight. Maybe Steward?

Steward could take his jab game even further and improve his defence, but constant flip-flopping between trainers ain't always a good idea.

Maybe he should try to join the Mayweather camp...

Actually, I think his counters need work. If he leaned back and threw a LH when Maidana was throwing those uppers, he could have hurt Maidana.

Doing anything other than standing still like a fool would have been better. But yeah I agree, the boy still needs to do a lot of work to be elite level.

Yep. He was awful on the back foot no doubt.
Great heart, real bottle but needs to tighten that defence

Amir was eating the same uppercut sandwiches emmanuel loves to eat. Being trained by roach gave Amir the same flaw roach's best product has.

What do you think the Mayweather camp can do for him?:think

    Roach teaches these guys defence.

It's just these guys don't follow Roach's commands all the time. Because they have something to prove. That they can take the other guy's punches.

Roach's defense is predicated on lateral movement, not standing in front of a guy with ear muffs on.

Guy gets knocked the **** out by Presscot in 1 round. 2 years later takes on a bigger, stronger, faster, more skilled version of Presscot, and beats him.

Roach has improved him tenfold, but there's no doubt Khan still has ways to go. It's not gonna be overnight.

He was courageous tonight, and I feel at times he wanted to prove a point. I don't think it was anything to do with Roach, the gameplan seemed to work great in the first half of the fight until Khan started to slug with the slugger.

He will have learnt immensely from this fight and this will make him a much more accomplished fighter in the future. He is far off being the finished article yet. Remember he's only 24.

They can teach him to avoid those stupid uppercuts.

    "Same move everytime!"

Yeah I was watching him and for a second thought it was Paquiao out there, except he ain't got Pacquiao's chin.
