Im a Khan fan but I admit his jaw is glass, its worse than American glass jaws like Jacobs, RJJ, Litzau and Williams and that's saying something

I usually disagree with Zakman's assessment of fighters chins but in this case he is right. Being KO'ed by a puncher like Presscott doesn't mean you have a bad chin but when you have been dropped and hurt a number of times by non punchers and domestic level fighters then your chin is pretty much glass. Any decent puncher can hurt Khan.

Alternatively it could have been the very definition of bad balance, weight draining, chicken legs which he used to have. Balance was certainly an issue pre roach and he was very top heavy and his legs were just scrawny. He has since moved up in weight, changed his body composition, got stronger through strength and conditioning and looked a lot better.

Of course the question mark remains but even if he gets Knocked down or out against a puncher like Maidana from a good shot, it doesn't means his chin is glass, it means he got clocked on the button by a good shot. We seen many fighters get knocked down and out before who have decent chins. Sometimes credit needs to be given to the guy who managed to time a great shot on the mark. If Khan was getting rocked around by light punchers then you have a case, but he's come through a fair few fights since Prescott and never been troubled.

I would say his chin is about average, not granite, but not terrible either. Just he had many technical issues before he got to the wildcard that left him open at times and unbalanced. We need to see how he is now, since changing things up.

This though it remains to be seen and if Khans chin is as bad as stated here than a lot of people on esb are going to make a lot of money especially from the early KO that is predicted.

Though I would be interested to see the betting slips if that occurs.

As you get older and stronger your chin sometimes get better. When you have a tight guard and make less mistakes you don't take much in the way of powerful shots

So in answer to the question it could have improved massively, but I suppose we'll see if he takes anything flush in his next fight. If Maidana doesn't land obviously we don't get an answer

Indeed. But the "that punch woulda KOd anybody" crowd will still, unfortunately, continuing trying to deny the importance of punch resistance in boxing. To them, it seems, there is no such thing as glass jaw! :patsch :nut

****, if Khan doesn't have a glass jaw, who does?? Eric Crumble? No, to these numbskulls his chin is probably solid too!! :rofl

Average? Are you kidding? seriously wtf?

Fair few fights? he's had 5 mate. Two were nobodies, one was a victim of many an insult due to being the most featherfisted guy in the sport, Kotelnik has an incredibly limited offence (yet he caught Khan in the 11th with a right hand that Khan definitely noticed), and finally Barrera who started his career 30lbs south of where he fought Khan (and he still wobbled Khan at least once).

Nearly all of the KD's so far in his career (actually, all but one) have no been balance so that arguement goes out of the window. "Remoulding" his body and him not being "top-heavy" is just waffle; there's no evidence at all to state that these changes have had an effect on him at all. Whether you want to think that shifting 2lbs from your shoulders to your quads magically lets you get hit in the face better then thats your call, but until there's any evidence to prove it means anything there's no point mentioning that kind of stuff, especially not in a debate. It's pure conjecture.

Khan and his team stated he was not draining and he was comfortably making the limit, his move up was actually a thinly veiled choice to win him a world title the easiest way they could. There's no coincidence Kotelnik, a guy even Khan said was ****, was his first fight at LWW.

I think we can agree his chin is poor for now until he shows otherwise in the ring. My concern is that maidana is a much more proven dynamite puncher and overall better fighter than prescott. There is a very good chance he might just blow khan out of water. However roach must see something in khan getting him in to spar pacquiao who is a massive puncher himself. Even in sparring, which is comparable to his amateur fights you might expect him to get dropped against the p4p best and one of the best offensive fighters ever, unless he already has been ko'ed or dropped.

On a related note, ive just watched some of maidanas fights prior to his ortiz fight. This guy hits like a mule.

Look at the noise he makes hitting those pads. Also others have commented on how loud his punches sound when sitting ringside. I believe a boxer who sparred with him said he punches way above his weight class.

Khan has the worst chin I've ever seen, past or present.

And if Khan last 12 rounds and defeats perhaps the most murderous puncher in all of boxing (pound-for-pound), what will you conclude?

I would hardly call Maidana "the MOST murderous puncher in all of boxing." But if somehow Kon runs all night or manages to KO Maidana before he gets caught himself, then I will only say that it's still just a matter of time til his glass jaw gets shattered again.

Unfortunately, Maidana's chin isn't rock solid itself, although it's granite compared to the Glass Jaw King! This said, if Kon gets hit solid, this fight's over. No ifs, ands or buts about that.

It would be funny if Khan takes a flush shot and nothing happens.

I know I know when pigs fly past a blue moon, just sayin.

I think if Khan starts taking shots - more questions will be asked, than ppl be laughing. Im hoping to see Khan get KO'd - Hatton style! Anything less and Im not satisfied. However, ill give the kid props if he doesnt get caught. I dont like Khan, but I could be swayed to give him credit if he can pull out a victory here.

I think its improved, the move to 140 has done him good, hes added more weight to his legs,i think hes took a few shots similar to the ones like gomez, limond etc.He hasnt faced a puncher as of yet,but we will find out next week. Also,i know its sparring, but he has came out and said that he has took some of pacs best shots and havent hurt him.
