What does it matter with Frank Warren in charge of who he fights?

Warren (now Calzagheless) will surely wrap Amir up in another few layers of cotton wool.

Come on please give us knowledge about this guy. Apart from the Khan camp blowing his trumpet and claiming he trained Kindelan etc and some kids on the amirfans site claiming he is Gamboa's trainer what other knowledge is there.

The fact of the situation is Khan did not want to train in the USA. No real trainer was willing to come over for long stints to the UK, so next best solution hire anyone and make up b/s stories about him to sell him to the public.

    it's a surprise choice.

but it's worth seeing what this guy has before we start sticking the knife in.

least we don't have to listen to one of the mayweather's spouting off before one of amir's fights. :yep

He looks like a nice chap and in reality I hope he does well, just love upsetting Khans ITV hypnotized fans. Actually, I think it could be a good move. Khan can not fight on th inside effectively. Harrison trains Jamie Moore probably the classiest infighter active in the UK right now and still Khan couldn't adapt to become more static and use an intelligent defence instead of his dancing shoes. However- seeming as he's be unable to adapt a more proffesional style, perhaps the best choice is someone who 'allegedy' coached the cuban team.. If he can maximise Khans strengths then it may turn out to be a good move.

Khan cannot take a great punch- that much is clear. He is never going to be able to adopt a Floyd Mayweather type canny infighting style, he's never going to adopt a Chavez walk them down style, he's never going to close range like Diaz.... But neither could De La Hoya. Khan needs to amateurize himself again and adapt it to the pro game. He's fit enough to pull it off, and who knows it may end up been a tremendous choice.

Why presume so? Khan's camp comprises his father - who unlike Mayweather and Jones Jrs' fathers knows nothing about boxing and some Pak businessman "adviser" who probably knows even less.

Kurt2006 is right, he wimped out of moving to the US because he doesn't want to be away from home. I blame his Asian upbringing - it's not provided him with the mental toughness to leave his comfort zone.

his buisness adviser Asif i think his name is seems a bit sly, if khan was asian i'm sure he'd be spending time elsewhere

The midget man Asif does not look sly to me. Poor chap does not even get to lead Amir into the ring these days.

it could be a good thing, because khan when he was an amateur could probably give anyone a good fight, hes a bit like calzaghe, he keeps the center of the ring and just lands loads of quick punches from all different angles.... and manages to slip and slide of peoples offence....

Ageed butI'm sceptical that he would necessarily get the best trainer for Khan. I've never seen any evidence that Warren actually knows much about the actual science of boxing, so would he know what sort of trainer is right for Khan anyway? I think he'd be concerned with Khan going off to train in the US with a Mayweather for example, because Khan could start getting whispers from US promoters like GBP about how much more he'd be making if he fought under their banner.

Agree with you there Raashid about Warren.
But Warren wouldn't let him be trained by someone so out of their depth though.
So this new trainer must be good enough.
By the rumours going around about his next fight Amir wont be stepping up and fighting anyone of a higher quality anyway.

We'll just have to wait and see how good this trainer is and if he can improve Amir.
