You look at that and it's easy to get caught up in trying to disect the finer points, but in truth the fight was never gonna happen.

As boxing4eva pointed out the fight wouldn't have gone ahead with the rematch clause demanding McCloskey receive the same purse as the first fight. It seems like the two sides couldn't agree on anything, which looking at some of the things that were discussed is silly really.

 

If those figures are right then that is a truly terrible offer.

 

i think u guys have misunderstood the fee he would have been paid for the rematch. he said that the money for the second fight was equal to what they had asked for in the first fight - i.e. their requested cash and not what was being offered for the first.

 

Khan's team are truly unprofessional. What is wrong with making a fair offer?

It's quickly approaching Feb. Assuming Khan needs 6 weeks for a training camp, TK will need to work quickly to find an opponent credible for sky and willing to accept an "offer" in time for April 16.

Well his highest purse is extremely likely to be the fight vs Lauri, and didn't that go to purse bids ?, if so there should be a record of the winning bid somewhere.

 

IF Hearn was indeed asking for Five times the amount of Paul's highest Purse, that's basically saying "We don't want the fight!"

The main problem I have is with Khan's team offering Paul the exact same money in the rematch, despite him being the champion. Should Paul win, you can bet your house the rematch would be even bigger second time round, and it would be ridiculous to expect Paul to take the same money in the first fight.

These latest details are helpful, and I commend Paul's team for releasing them. The only thing missing is the number they earned for their previous fight, which means we still don't know what the exact number Khan's team were offering. We need to know, so we can compare with the 450k Maidana earned against Khan. But judging the behaviour of Khan's team of late, I'm inclined to believe it was a low offer.
